Itinerary
Welcome to the breathtaking Sintra Mountains, a stunning natural wonder stretching across the Portuguese horizon. Just a few kilometers from Lisbon, this majestic range is a cultural and natural treasure that draws travelers from around the world. The Serra de Sintra, with its lush vegetation and rolling hills, offers a truly unique experience. It’s a harmonious blend of wild nature and rich history — a mosaic of green slopes, picturesque valleys, and ancient rock formations shaped over centuries.
The Sabuga Fountain, in Sintra, is a natural spring rich in minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Known for its therapeutic properties — beneficial for skin, muscles, and the respiratory system — it has long been associated with wellness and local tradition. Visiting the fountain offers not only a glimpse into Sintra’s natural heritage but also its deep-rooted cultural identity.
Welcome to the Moorish Castle, a historical landmark that rises majestically over the hills of Sintra. This medieval fortress offers a journey through time, filled with history and breathtaking panoramic views. As you walk along its ancient walls and towers, you’ll sense the echoes of the past — the defense strategies, the craftsmanship, and the enduring legacy of those who once stood guard here. Surrounded by Sintra’s green valleys and the distant Atlantic coast, the castle provides one of the most spectacular vantage points in Portugal — a true window into the beauty and drama of the region’s landscape.
Get ready to visit Sintra’s most iconic landmark — Pena Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched atop the mountain. Your experience includes the Essential Ticket, with access to the palace interior and surrounding park. Your guide will accompany the group throughout the visit and provide a guided tour of the exterior areas, sharing historical context, local insights, and helping you make the most of your visit. Please note that the visit inside Pena Palace is self-guided, allowing you to explore the interior rooms and exhibitions at your own pace.
Welcome to the National Palace of Sintra, a true architectural jewel nestled in the heart of the village. Once a royal residence for centuries, this remarkable palace stands as a living chronicle of Portugal’s history, blending Gothic, Manueline, Moorish, and Mudéjar influences into a harmonious masterpiece. Recognizable by its iconic twin conical chimneys rising above the Sintra skyline, the palace captivates visitors with its blend of elegance and authenticity. Inside, richly decorated rooms, intricate tilework, and grand halls tell the stories of kings and queens who shaped the nation’s past. From the dazzling Swan Room to the majestic Coat of Arms Hall, every corner reveals layers of artistry and heritage. Visiting the National Palace of Sintra is more than stepping into history — it’s an encounter with the royal soul of Portugal, where culture, architecture, and tradition unite in timeless beauty.
The famous Piriquita pastry shop is a true icon of Sintra. Founded in 1862, this traditional bakery is known for its irresistible pastries — especially the beloved travesseiros and queijadas. Located in the heart of the village, Piriquita delights both locals and visitors with the aroma of freshly baked sweets. The travesseiros, made from crisp puff pastry filled with a soft egg cream, and the queijadas, with their smooth texture and delicate flavor, are absolute must-tries.
In the historic center of Sintra, you’ll stroll through the romantic village’s narrow cobblestone streets. We’ll stop at the world-famous Piriquita to taste these regional delights, enjoy a glass of ginjinha, and explore the local crafts created by Sintra’s renowned artisans — the perfect conclusion to an unforgettable journey.

This was a great tour and Ravi, the tour guide/driver was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, helpful, and just terrific. Highly recommend the tour and Ravi
Moorish walk is a bit of hike. Pena palace can get crowded quick I would bring snacks or food in case cafe is closed in our case very crowded at Pena with poor selection. Guides were amazing we had Jorge and Diego and they accommodated our large multi generational group with kids. Highly recommend without a guide it would have been hour or more wait to get into Pena
My mom and I had an Amazing day with Ravi! The Parque Nacional de Pena & The Moorish Castle were absolutely incredible and it was a great experience to hear about the history and scenery so in-depth! . The convertible experience was great with spectacular views and great service by our guide. After wards we had a great lunch in a local restaurant which made it feel even more special. The pickup was also very convenient and we were dropped off at our hotel after. We enjoyed the private tour and were able to see a lot at our own pace. All the admission stuff was handled by the guide and it was very hands off and stress free overall.

The castle and the Palace/Monastary are definitely worth seeing if you are in Lisbon or close to Sintra. Amazing views of the valleys and rivers, and the gardens of the Palace are not to be missed, with flora from around the world. Javi was an amazing tour guide, with clear communications leading up to the day and then slight adjustments throughout to make the experience worthwhile. Highly recommend!

If you are like my wife and I, we are very anxious when we are making a decision to book any kind of travel experience in a foreign country. Rest assured that while this support may cost a bit more than your comps, it is more than worth it considering the extra cost benefits (tickets to the attractions, water, travel in A/C car). Our guide was in contact at least two weeks in advance and showed up exactly where we had planned. The rest of the day went perfectly (and we are fussy) with no complaints about the cost. Ask for Patricia, wear your best walking shoes and shorts and good travels!!

Esmil was our tour guide. He was amazing. Very knowledgeable and helpful. It was a wonderful experience. Inadvertently discovered that in booking through Viator we paid double the price that we would have paid if we had booked directly with this particular tour company. Disappointed that the mark-up was so high.

How lucky were my husband and I were having tour guide Ravi drive us to Sintra. We traveled in a classic convertible that offered spectacular views of the natural surroundings Sintra has to offer. Ravi was professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
