Sintra: Pena Palace & Cabo da Roca Hike from Lisbon

We highly recommend this tour! Our guide Francisco was wonderful, very knowledgeable about all the history and nature. We loved the combination of seeing the palace (early morning, so still reasonably quiet) and then a nice hike with absolutely stunning views.

Our day trip from Lisbon to Sintra and Pena Palace was absolutely fantastic, largely thanks to our incredible guide, Flavio. From the start, he brought energy and enthusiasm, setting a perfect tone for the day. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Portuguese history and culture, which made the whole experience feel both educational and enjoyable. The journey from Lisbon to Sintra was smooth, and Flavio kept us entertained with interesting facts about the area, the history of Sintra, and some local legends. Sintra itself felt like a step back in time—a magical, charming village surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful architecture. Flavio knew all the best spots for photos and took us to some hidden gems off the beaten path, making the experience even more unique. Our visit to Pena Palace was the highlight of the trip. Flavio’s insights about the palace’s history, architectural styles, and the lives of the royals who once lived there made the visit come alive. He gave us ample time to explore the vibrant terraces and enjoy the breathtaking views over Sintra and beyond. The palace itself is stunning, but having a guide who could share the stories behind every colorful wall and intricate detail elevated the experience tremendously. Super nice and fun tour guide who already imparted a lot of knowledge on the route, responded to the wishes of the group, showed the best photo spots and even organized free tapas for everyone on a beach. The driver was also very nice and took us well and safely to all destinations and then back to town. All around just a great day with Ricardo, thank you!!!

The tour of the outside grounds of the palace and the hike to Cabo da Roca were both great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of fun facts along the way. The logistics were a bit chaotic as we were together with another group that was doing the palace and wine tasting and there were a couple of times where we had to wait for our transportation but overall a worthwhile tour.

We enjoyed our trip to Sintra and the hike that followed. We are a family of two adults and two older teens. The pacing was good, the amount of time spent in each location was just right. Pedro was very informative and friendly and really enjoyed showing us his hometown. The views during the hike to the beach were stunning. It was too windy to swim but it was still a beautiful destination. Highly recommend.
