Our family of five had a wonderful, private, half day tour of Sintra with Hugo. Unfortunately, Pena Palace was closed for heat but the owner, Stas, let us know bf the tour. We were able to pick between Sintra Palace or Cascais. We were still able to visit Regaleira and all thought it was beautiful!! This tour appealed to all of our ages.
We had a wonderful guide, Andre. And the palaces were amazing. There was a lot of walking, but worth it!
Guide (Leo) was knowledgeable, approachable and had good communication. Timing was good. Meet point was good.
We had such an amazing time with Leo and our group of 8 visitors to Sintra (our family of 4 combined with another family of 4)! As soon as we got out of the sweltering heat and into the nicely air conditioned van at the pickup point, Leo started educating us on the history of Lisbon while he drove, pointing out important landmarks we passed. It helped that he was a past history teacher and you could tell he was passionate about what he spoke about! We started the tour earlier at 9 am, so we arrived at Pena Palace and beat the crowds, snagging a shaded spot in the tiny parking lot after 40 minutes of driving. Hiking up to Pena Palace was much easier at that time of day than in the crippling afternoon heat, I’m sure. After giving us the backstory on the palace, Leo then gave us some free time to explore the palace terraces on our own. After that, we headed to the historical center of Sintra, where we again had free time to walk around and grab a snack while also went to park the van. He met us after parking, with some traditional Portuguese pastries to try, even giving us the history behind those pastries. Our final stop was to Quinta da Regaleira. We hiked up to it directly from the historical center. And wow!! What a fairytale castle! Just amazing when it came into view. So worth the short hike up from the city center. By this time, it was close to noon and extremely hot. Leo found us shady spots to stand in while taking small breaks to wait for the whole group to catch up. We had three young kids in our group, and Leo did great interacting with them and accommodating their needs. After our history lesson about the palace, we then had our free time to check out the palace grounds, and head back to Lisbon. This tour exceeded my expectations and we left full of knowledge and beautiful memories. Thank you Leo for the perfect half-day spent in Sintra!
I had one day before my travel buddy arrived in Lisbon, so I booked this tour, and I am so glad I did. Learned so many interesting facts about the history of Portugal, and going with a tour meant I didn’t need to worry about getting to and from each destination. There is uphill walking as stated in the overview, so be ready for that! Our guide, Bruno, was wonderful, and I would definitely recommend this tour for people who are looking to visit the historic sites and learn about the history.
Emanuel highly knowledgeable and personable. Well worth the day trip. He knew all the spots. Be prepared to walk a lot and bring a sandwich and water with you as it’s all go. Would have like more time to meander around sintra village but the pastries he bought us were delicious. Brilliant experience
We took a half day tour with Emanuel & he took great care of us! He was full of knowledge from the time we left Lisbon until we finished at the Pena Palace. It was a very hot day & he kept us cool in the shade while still allowing us time to take photos & enjoy Sintra!
My family enjoyed an awesome tour with Hugo this morning!🙌 He was very entertaining and we learned so much. The half day tour was perfect. Thanks again!
Our guide Andre was exceptional, full of knowledge and great sense of humor. We saw a lot in a small time. Be prepared for cool foggy weather
