Sintra, Cabo da Roca and the Coast - PRIVATE Half Day from Lisbon like a local

Description
Embark on a PRIVATE tour that starts from your hotel/apartment/cruise to the UNESCO World heritage site of Sintra, where your Private Driver/Guide will introduce you to the historical aspects of the monuments you will see around this beautiful mountain. There will be a lot of scenic driving along the hill and the coast, leading us to places like the Westernmost point of mainland Europe ( Cabo da Roca), on the way to Cascais. Let this place amaze you with your own PRIVATE tour. It will only be you and your friends/family. All the attention will go to you. We will also have time for a visit to the outstanding and mysterious Quinta da Regaleira (optional and own expense) or to try the typical Portuguese Sour Cherry Liquor Ginjinha.

Our family had such a great time with David! He is so knowledgeable about Portugal and is very funny too! He fit in with our family dynamic so well! He also gave some great recommendations on where else to go around Lisbon. He really wants people to know about Portugal and gives great recommendations! Thanks David and (inside joke), your momma! 😀
Dear Amrik, Thank you so much for your review of our Sintra tour. I can only say I had a great time with you and your family. It is because of people like you that I feel that I love my job. Lots of jokes, laughs, knowledge and great fun! Hope to see you again soon! Best Regards, David Monteiro
Our tour guide was David who was very personable, but when asked what the schedule was didn't seem to have a plan. We stopped for lunch at a place described as the best on the route. It was like stopping at a gas station. The employees were extremely loud, the food was inedible and the bathrooms were dirty and had no toilet seats. Sintra is a charming town with bumper-to-bumper traffic. I asked if we would be able to walk in the cave because two of us have walking issues. He said, "Well, yes," but actually you walk up kind of a ramp and look down into the Boca da Inferno cave. Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe, is just walking up a sidewalk and looking out at the ocean. Guincho beach is just a beach and the water is cold so there were few people on the beach and hardly anyone in the water. The stop at Cascais for shopping was done in 10 minutes because it's mostly cafes and souvenir shops which all have the same uninteresting stuff. Then we drove along the coast. We live in Florida so beaches and coastline are nothing special. We were running out of time so we had to skip the palaces, but David said time didn't matter and insisted that we stop to buy pastries which were delicious but we didn't really care about them at that point. All in all a disappointing tour for $600 for four hours.
Dear Merle, Thank you for your review of our Sintra tour. Can't say I am not disappointed with your 3/5, especially because you are reviewing my tour and not restaurants or monuments. It is a fact that Sintra can have bumper-to-bumper traffic. Even more on a Saturday which was the day of our tour. But how that is my fault is something I don't understand. As for the restaurant you mentioned, we didn't even stop for lunch as we had a "4 hour tour" that started at 1pm so I think you are confusing my tour with another one with someone else. This is the typical case of wrong expectations. You wanted to walk "inside the cave" at Boca do Inferno which is something impossible to do. When I said you could, I thought you were asking about something else, definitely not that place. I don't know what you were expecting at the westernmost point of mainland europe besides "looking out at the ocean", when the west coast of Portugal is on the water. Maybe you were expecting some islands that don't exist? Yes, Guincho beach is just a beach. I don't know where anyone described it as being something else. It is what it is. Surprising that hardly anyone was in the water as this tour was in mid October which is half way into our Fall. Maybe some knowledge of the weather of the place you're traveling to would help not making this mistake. The stop at Cascais, like the whole tour, didn't have a time limit. You spent as long as you wished there as I didn't rush you for anything. And I remember telling you CLEARLY that this town is very touristy and I usually just drive by and go somewhere else but you insisted on stopping. You say we were running out of time and we skipped the palaces, but you probably didn't read the itinerary of this Half Day Tour I assume. Again, I am sure you are confusing my tour with someone else's as we weren't supposed to visit any palaces inside but still saw all of them from the outside and even stopped for pictures where we could. Also my mistake for extending the tour for 2 more hours and giving you the opportunity to see a part of Lisbon you hadn't seen before, along with trying the famous custard tarts from the Pastéis de Belém (that you said you loved from what I can remember and now said you didn't really care about). Should have just taken you straight to the hotel whenever the 4 hours were over if I knew this was coming. I know nothing is perfect, but I feel you are judging my tour by how much you liked or disliked certain places instead of reviewing my work as a Tour Guide, which is why you can write reviews about my tours here. I don't own a restaurant, don't own monuments and also can't control the flow of traffic. With that said, I hope you still enjoyed your time in Portugal and thank you for spending time writing this review that was in part for someone else for sure. Best Regards, David Monteiro
We had a tremendous time with David on our tour around Lisbon, Sintra, and Cabo da Roca. We were unfortunately only in Portugal for a day and a half but David did a phenomenal job to show us as many sights as possible during the short time and definitely gave us an appetite to go back to visit and explore more of Portugal. If you're visiting, be sure to ask David about his favorite spot to find Pasteis de Nata!!!!
Dear Adrian, Thank you very much for your review of our Sintra tour. It was a great day and we managed to explore a bit more than just Sintra because I didn't want you to go home without seeing a bit more of my country. Hope you can return to see more of what I told you. Best Regards, David Monteiro
David was knowledgeable and an enjoyable guide. He helped us see what we wanted while navigating the crowds.
Dear Kristen, Thank you very much for your review of our Sintra Half Day Tour. It was fun seeing you the next morning before I found my clients for that day. Hope you have a great time in Porto! Best Regards, David Monteiro
We had a great time! David was very accommodating and showed us places that normally we wouldn’t have seen with any other tour! We really enjoyed the flexibility and sightseeing.
Dear Jessie, Thank you very much for your review or our Sintra Half Day Tour. It was great to spend time with you and your mother seeing beautiful places around Sintra, not forgetting the Jerónimos Monastery that we saw on the way back. Hope you can return soon for more adventures around Portugal. Best Regards, David Monteiro
It was such a wonderful experience with our guide David! We went to the beautiful city of sintra and then to some lovely sights on the way which one can only do on a private tour. Our guide David was fantastic
Dear Ruchika, Thank you very much for your review. It was a pleasure spending the day with you going around some of my favorite sites around Sintra. Hope you can return soon for more tours. Best Regards, David Monteiro
David and Pedro were absolutely phenomenal. They went out of their way to ensure we had a great time, used the time we had really well, and adapted the trip to our needs. We enjoyed our time with them so much that we invited them to dinner as well with us afterwards! Overall, a 10 out 5 afternoon!
Dear Kris, Thank you very much for your review. Me and Pedro had the best time with your group of 9 touring around Sintra and I was very glad to have the opportunity to share a great dinner with all of you as well. We both hope you can all come back either together or with your families to see more of the country. Best Regards, David Monteiro
It was one of the best experience I had during this tour. I cannot explain in words how much I loved the beauty of Portugal. Our tour guide 'David' saved our day. I'm glad we met this amazing person. One of the best and humble person I've seen. He is not like the normal tour guides, he goes out of the way and will show the best parts of the places and will keep you amazed. In one word i would say "Amazing ❤️"
Dear Karan, Thank you very much for your review and kind words. It was a pleasure showing you around my favorite places and meeting both of you. As I told you, you saved my day by trusting me to take you on a great journey. Keep enjoying Portugal while you're here. Best Regards, David Monteiro
Superb and highly recommended experience. A very interesting tour, very well explained, very nice and very pleasant. Super vehicle, exceptional driver. We have visited the best of Sintra, Cabo de Roca and several beaches in an interesting, detailed and comfortable way. Very grateful to David for watching everyone and everything, beautiful photo sites, curious corners, anecdotes, comfort, security... Definitely a tour to recommend and repeat!!
Evelia, Que buena sorpresa! Ha sido un placer visitar Sintra de una forma diferente y divertida. Le agradezco la confianza y espero que pueda volver un dia para visitar un poco mas de mi país. Saludos para usted y su familia! David Monteiro
We met David by chance as soon as we arrived in Sintra. We expected to only see the castles of Sintra, but David took his time showing us much more (Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Boca do Inferno, Cascais...). So, it was a great experience, not only because of the view, since we went to beautiful places, but also because David is an awesome, friendly and honest guide. He showed us great spots for pictures and brought us to have lunch in a very good restaurant, but not so expensive - like we asked him to do. We really recommend his tour.
Alline, Muito obrigado pelo seu comentário! Foi um prazer levar todos vocês a passear pelos meus lugares favoritos. Espero que possam voltar um dia para mais passeios fora desta zona. Tudo de bom! David Monteiro
