Itinerary

75 min

Your journey begins in Trastevere, one of the oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods in the Eternal City. The first stop in Trastevere is to taste two must-try staples of Roman culinary tradition: the famous "supplì" – crispy rice croquettes filled with melted mozzarella, and the iconic "fiori di zucca alla romana" – delicate zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and anchovies. Your guide will then lead you to a local bakery to savor the renowned "pizza bianca." This crispy pizza, often served with olive oil and salt, is a Roman icon. In your tasting, we'll pair it with local cured meats or the famous porchetta, another icon of Roman tradition.

20 min

We'll continue to stroll through the enchanting alleys of this timeless neighborhood, with our guide sharing some historical insights and surprising anecdotes. After delighting our palate in Trastevere, we'll cross the picturesque Tiber River to reach Tiber Island. Admire the panorama along the bridge and get ready to discover the flavors of Jewish cuisine.

80 min

Immerse yourself in the rich culinary tradition of the Jewish Ghetto, one of the oldest in the world and a fundamental stop in every visit to Rome. At a local osteria, we'll savor "carciofi alla giudia" – artichokes fried to perfection, a specialty with ancient roots in Roman Jewish cuisine. There will be other typical dishes to enjoy, such as the famous "amatriciana" and "cacio e pepe," all accompanied by a good glass of local wine in the company of your new friends. Conclude your tour on a sweet note at a renowned gelateria. Choose from a wide range of artisanal flavors and indulge in Italian gelato, perhaps in a quiet square or along the river, savoring the beauty of the Eternal City.

Exceeded expectations—wonderful!

This tour was a highlight of our Rome visit. Matteo was a terrific guide, personable and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the food and learning about the traditions, but the history woven in to the tour and the locations we walked past was a definite plus. Be prepared to be unable to do justice to the food…even if you build up an appetite with the walking involved, there is a LOT of food, all absolutely delicious.
