Your first stop in this historic city is the catacombs which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock 1st or 2nd century .
The "Pompey Pillar," also known as Egypt's most revered memorial column, stands tall as a symbol of historical significance. Fashioned from solid red granite, this colossal structure reaches a staggering height of approximately 28 meters, while its base boasts an impressive diameter of 2.7 meters. Adorning the upper portion of the western side lies an inscription inscribed in the elegant language of Greek. This inscription pays homage to the esteemed Emperor Diocletian, known for his unwavering commitment to justice and his role as the guardian of Alexandria. It also acknowledges the monumental efforts of Postumus, the esteemed Prefect of Egypt, who oversaw the erection of this magnificent monument. Through its grandeur and historical relevance, the Pompey Pillar serves as a testament to Egypt's rich heritage and enduring legacy.
visit from outside please note that : The Qaitbay Citadel in Alexandria is considered one of the most important defensive strongholds in Egypt and along the Mediterranean coast. In the 15th century A.D., it was essential to Alexandria's fortifications. The Citadel resides at the entrance of the eastern harbor on the east point of Pharos Island. It was erected on the site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The lighthouse continued to function until the time of the Arab conquest. Several disasters occurred, and the shape of the lighthouse was changed to some extent, but it continued to work. Restoration began during Ahmed Ibn Tulun (about 880 A.D). During the 11th century, an earthquake damaged the octagonal part. The bottom survived but could only serve as a watchtower, so a small Mosque was built on the top. In the 14th century, a destructive earthquake destroyed the building. optional stop for lunch at fish market

Our tour to Alejandria was an absolutely wonderful experience, especially as a couple traveling together. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, allowing my husband and me to fully relax and enjoy the day. What truly made the experience stand out was the exceptional work of both the Ahmed (the guide ) and Maged ( the driver). Ahmed was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared fascinating insights while making us feel comfortable and cared for throughout the journey. Also took great pictures of us. Meanwhile, Maged ensured a smooth, safe, and pleasant ride, which made a big difference in how enjoyable and stress-free the trip felt. Overall, it was a memorable experience that I would highly recommend to any couple.

We had a memorable time in Alexandria because we have the best tour guide Ehab Mehana and our driver Maged. We were picked up from our hotel and drove about 3 hours to reach our destination. Ehab is sensitive to our needs, giving us time for toilet or coffee breaks. He has very good command of the English language. He didn’t rush us in any place , he gave us enough time to explore and even volunteered to take our pictures. He is very knowledgeable and can answer all our questions. Best of all a very patient guide with many years of experience. It shows how much he is enjoying his work . By the end of the day he is like a family to us .Hope to see him again someday . We had a wonderful trip to Alexandria with our driver, Shadi. He was punctual, professional, and very friendly throughout the day. The car was comfortable, and he drove safely, which made the long drive very pleasant. Shadi speaks excellent English, which made communication very easy and helped everything run smoothly. He was patient at each stop and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable while visiting places like the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, Pompey’s Pillar, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. I highly recommend Shadi to anyone planning a trip to Alexandria. He made our day stress-free and memorable.

The travel to Alexandria while long (2.5 hours) , it was quite smooth. We got to see all the key sites (the catacombs , the citadel, the library and the Pompeii column) and Fady our guide was quite helpful and patient.

I only booked the driver. The driver Karim is friendly and responsive. He drove safely and took us to different points at Alexandria, and allowed us some free time to explore. He also took us to a seafood restaurant for lunch. Thank you for arranging everything.

A really disappointing day, the driver to Alexandria took 5 hours due to fog and when we arrived the tour was cut short so we could get back to Cairo. There was no discussion regarding the tour being cut short and theee was no reason for us to be back in Cairo at 5pm. I felt the whole experience was a rip off and couldn’t recommend this to anyone.
