We waited for our tour guide for over an hour at the meeting point with another couple who had scheduled the tour. We all tried contacting him multiple times with the phone number that had been provided but no one picked up and did not return calls. We also had met a different guide while waiting and he sent a message to our guide. We all gave up around 75 minutes of waiting and an email to Birchy. My group went ahead and figured out our own transportation to the site and completed an audio guided tour. I received 2 emails later that afternoon apologizing and offering a complimentary tour of our choice the next day but we were only in Berlin for 3 days and had other plans. I was extremely disappointed because Sachenhausen was my top interest while in Berlin. I wish we would have booked with a different operator.
We had a wonderful guide (Paul) for our Sachsenhausen tour. He was very respectful to those that suffered there, while providing an excellent educational experience of the events that led to creating concentration camps, torture camps and overall the rise of Hitler and NAZI-ism.
This was a very knowledgeable tour given by Cairan. We must never forget and keep investing in telling the story forever to the younger generations from all over the world
This is a must do experience. I could hardly call it a “tour.” It’s a moving reminder of the horrors we are capable of causing to one another but also about the tenacity and resilience of being human. Our guide, Cairan, was knowledgeable, engaging, friendly and most professional at all times. We assumed we were going to be taken (by car, bus, van, etc.) to Sachsenhausen; however, we found out we had to take a train and then a bus or walk to the site. No big deal, just an FYI. Excellent experience. Thank you!
If you are touring around Berlin and enjoy history , this is a must see. It’s shocking how this history unfolded, and having a very knowledgeable guide made it next level. I would highly recommend this tour , and if you get Cairan as a guide , you will have a great tour !
A couple of friends and I booked this tour with Paul this past weekend. Paul was awesome. Very cool dude, with a lot of knowledge about the subject. The size of the group was me, 10 of my friends, and a couple. The duration of the visit was about six hours. Dress warm. It was very cold, and the majority of the tour was outdoors, but the cold put it more into perspective of how brutal the conditions were. The overall experience was very heavy, but we are glad we saw it. Overall, 10/10 experience, and I am glad we had Paul as a tour guide.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear that you and your group had such a meaningful experience with Paul. I’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Paul. It means a lot to him.
Awesome trip. Paul was a great guide with a ton of stories and facts about the tour
Thank you so much for the great review! We’re delighted to hear you had an awesome trip and that Paul’s stories and depth of knowledge made the experience memorable. I’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to him.
The tour was excellent. As we were the only people booked for the slot we had a personal guide. Paul was amazing, very engaging and knowledgeable.
Paul was an excellent guide. He is very personable, knowledgeable & helpful. We highly recommend Birchey's Tours. The price is worth it as it is a more personal tour experience.
Julian is a terrific tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, informative and sensitive about German history and the devastating events that happened at the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp in the 1930s and 40s. We’re so glad that we did the tour and that we were lucky enough to have Julian as our guide. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a one-on-one personalized tour of the camp. Thank you, Julian, for a wonderful experience. We will always remember the trip and what we learned.
