Berlin Through Third Reich Eyes

Stefan was an outstanding guide with deep knowledge of the Third Reich and its impact on Berlin. Starting at the Brandenburger Gate, which was one of the many dividing points during the Cold War, he took us on a 2-hour tour that expertly wove history with human interest stories. We ended at the Topography of Terror museum, a must-see stop in Berlin. Like many of our guides, Stefan had personal memories of the Cold War period -- he was just 24 when communism collapsed. We opted for a private tour for the two of us, cost was about $130, far less than many other tours we considered. A good value.

Just what we hoped for!

Although we were running late, Stefan was able to accommodate us and pack in an informative and interesting tour! He shared stories that we wouldn’t have heard on our own, provided historical context for the sights we saw, and answered our many questions. This was a great introduction to our short stop in Berlin!

Alex, our guide, was terrific

I can't say enough about Alex. He was extremely knowledgeable on all areas of our tour. We were staying in Charlottenburgand and so he also included areas of Old Berlin (1920's etc) from that part of Berlin. I can't say enough good things about Alex - he was a perfect guide and I would definitely recommend this tour and request Alex as your guide. When we return to Berlin we will be using this company again for tours

Our guide, Alexander, was fantastic. He was friendly and highly knowledgable about the local history. The tour was in-depth, and there were plenty of opportunities to stop to take pictures and ask questions. This was our first trip to Berlin, and we are grateful to have received such an informative guide. I would definitely recommend this tour, and our guide, Alexander, if you really want to experience Berlin and learn about its complex history. The tour is worth every penny!

Excellent experience. Our guide was terrific. We visited several sites connected to the Third Reich. We began at the site of the infamous book burnings and saw the impressive monument located there. We then traveled to the Reichstag and visited several emotional monuments including the memorials to the Roma, Homosexuals and the Jews. We passed the location of the bunker where Hitler spent his last days it is a parking lot and concluded at the Topography of Terror site. Our guide brought this dark and troubling period to life. We had great conversations and gained insights. It was a first rate experience.
