The "Cave Church" in Egypt is one of the largest churches in the country, a place where 70,000-plus Christians gather every week to worship and praise Jesus - a place that's home to one of the world's oldest Christian communities. The cave, also known as the Monastery of Saint Simon, is located in the Mokattam mountain area, Cairo. In fact, this arrangement worked so well, that successive waves of migrants came from Upper Egypt to live and work in the newly founded garbage villages of Cairo, Visit Old Cairo where you see some of the earliest Christian churches in Middle east from 300 AD visit the Church of Abu-Sergah and St. Barbara, the hanging church, and the old Jewish synagogue called Ben Ezra Synagogue.

I had a private day tour to Cave Church of st.Simon the Tanner. The beginning of the tour postponed twice, first because of orthodox Christmas, then it was car accident with the guide. I was ready to cancel the tour but they found another guide - Ashraf Ibrahim, very knowledgeable, professional and polite person. Driver was also professional and polite. They made everything to compensate some negative points (delay and wrong destination - first we came to Coptic Cairo). But finally we had a very good tour to the beautiful place followed by the lunch in authentic Egyptian restaurant instead of usual place for tourists. Thanks to Ashraf Ibrahim and Sunrise tour team!
