Fantastic insight into Malacca and all of Malaysia. Our guide Rueben was very informative . Passing on his extensive knowledge of Malacca in his own casual style, making it all easy to understand. Really enjoyed being on a private tour with just the 2 of us.

The local agency Way to Kuala Lumpur did not turn up at the designated hour and pick up point. Messages to them went unanswered. Their phone number was unreachable and even Viator team failed to connect with them.

Malacca is surely a must-do when you are in KL. The historical center is really worth seeing. The tour was well organized.
We did a day trip to vibrant Malacca. Our driver and guide for the day Mr. Rajan was very accomodative and filled us on the history and the culture of the place. We also stopped over at a local restaurant that served lip-smacking local nonya dishes. Our trip coincided with the last day of the long Chinese new year holiday, as a result of which we were stuck in a terrible traffic jam on our way back to the hotel. However, our guide was very patient. He made sure that we were comfortable and dropped us to hotel even though it was late.
Melaka (supposed to be UNESCO world heritage city) is a small town in itself and once you reach there, everything is within easy walking distance. Infact there are very less things for sighseeing apart from the tower on top of the hill which is in ruins and then A'Farmosa, a gateway ruin and then a few small museums, churches and palace which you can visit as there is nothing much more to do. There is chinatown (Jonker St) which is worth a walk, but its like every other chinatown in the world where you get antiques and souveniers for which you have to bargain with your life! In the end, we decided to do the melaka river cruise (quite steep at 30RM per person) which was the only saving grace of the tour. On the whole, spending almost 4+ hours time to drive to Melaka and back to KL city really didnt seem worth it, in a 8 hour private tour as there were hardly enough time to do the museum and palace tour due to time constraint. Also, these trips are not guided trips, when you book a private trip, you get a driver and a car and you are at the mercy of the driver to tell you the history of the place. Our Driver Murugan, tried to be as eloquent and nice as he could be, but we just couldnt get into the right holiday mood with him and enjoy the tour inspite of his best intentions, as it always felt we were getting late and needed to head back for KL! Lunch was included in the tour which I had purchased and I insisted on the Nonya lunch (and not the typical chicken rice which the tour operator had on offer) as i read it was really tasty. The driver had to speak for hours together with the Agency supervisor to accomodate my request and I kept telling the driver that I dont care even if I had to pay for the lunch! Finally I was taken to a restaurant called "Our Kitchen" which served us aweseome baba nonya food and we loved it. Maybe that the was high point of our trip to melaka. Overall, I think melaka trip is a bit oversold to the customers. Not much to do or see there, maybe best to stay overnight or go over the weekend where the crowds are more and everyone comes out to wow the crowd. Any other day, its a sleepy town with not much to do and simply not work the pain and money.
Was a Beautiful place to get know some history of Melaka. You will be able to get very nice pictures there
Thank you for your response and kind words. We glad you enjoyed your experience at this tour and appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Regards.
It is one of the oldest cities in Malaysia, so I think you should visit it. Nothing surprising or historic remains.

We had a fantastic time. Our tour guide Nason was the most funniest and friendliest person we have ever met. He actually made this tour one of our best tours. He picked us up at the hotel on time & began the tour with the history of Malaysia, Kaula Lumpur & Malacca. Along, the way to Malacca, he told us many interesting facts about the trees, plants, animals, culture etc etc. Nason is full of knowledge. At Malacca, he told us about all the sights to see & we were left to explore. The Jonker river cruise is nice. On the way home, we stopped for lunch were they serve traditional Malaysian food. We will remember this tour, as we had so many laughs. Nason, also very caring & helpful, as I lost my purse & he offered to search Malacca with me. He searched the car many times & followed it up that evening via phone calls at our hotel. Nason keep up the good work & take care. Best Wishes.THANK YOU. Anthony & Silvana Coakley.
