Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings

Description
With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast. We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises. Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history. The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers. I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

We had a great time on the Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings. Steve our guide, was very knowledgeable, informative and entertaining. We were introduced to fruits and foods that we otherwise may never try. There was plenty of food and we learned a lot about the culture and history of the region as well. It was a great tour, while supporting small local food vendors.
Awesome tour, lots of different foods to try and experience. A very authentic experience and would recommend to anyone. We had Sean as our tour guide, he was super knowledgeable and let us go at our own pace. He was a great tour guide to have.
Great discovery of Malaysian cuisine! Our guide, Sean, was really good, very good explanations about the culture and history of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.
Absolutely brilliant experience! Steve our guide was so knowledgeable, friendly and a complete entertainer! Had so much food and great hands-on experience too, would highly recommend 👌
Great way to discover KL and the fabulous meals we discovered Thanks to Uncle Sam who explain us a lot of things on a lot of different topics!
Stephen was an amazing tour guide! He was a gracious host and introduced me to many wonderful local foods. He was fun and kept the tour interesting. I loved his approach, try a little and if you like it, ask for more! The walking was easy, yet so many different experiences, from fruit stands, small restaurants, food stands, and a bigger venue for the nation’s number one meal. So many treat and surprises! He has a great sense of humor and deeply cares about everyone on the tour. At the end, he ensures everyone has a way to get back to their desired destination. If you are visiting from outside Malaysia, be sure to bring coins from your home country! It’s fun to show them to others and get to learn about his hobby. We shared stories of our US state quarter coin collections that are displayed in a special US map booklet. A must do when in Malaysia for a short visit!
A great sampling of Malay cuisine, with lots of information from our wonderful guide Uncle Sam.
Really great tour through the old town, food was amazing and guide was really knowledgeable and accommodating
Soooo much food and a really good selection of food was provided. I checked out what a few of the other tours were getting and I preferred our offerings. Sam made the evening fun and informative. A good pace especially on a hot night and not too far to walk.
We had an amazing evening on this food tour! Our guide, Ian, was absolutely fantastic. He was funny, friendly, and created such a relaxed atmosphere that it felt like we were exploring Kuala Lumpur with a friend of a friend rather than being on an organized tour. The food was delicious, there was plenty of it, and Ian shared lots of interesting stories about the local culture and the different dishes. Everything was well organized, and the experience never felt rushed. If you’re visiting Kuala Lumpur and want to experience authentic local food while having a great time, I highly recommend this tour. Thanks, Ian, for making it such a memorable evening!
