Itinerary
We will enter the train station where you will have time to admire the amazing tile work and take pictures.
One of the enigmatic places in Porto that inspired J.K. Rowling to write the Harry Potter saga.
Pictures inside and/or praying. Please note that sometimes this church is closed during our tour and we can't go inside to take pictures. Nevertheless we will show you other sites if this one isn't open.
This church has a touristic circuit inside. You can do it if you wish but just going around this beautiful building filled with tiles is usually a highlight on its own but we will let you decide whether to take the circuit of not.
We will walk around the area where the Clérigos Church and Tower are and you are free to decide to go up the tower for a great view of the city or simply take some pictures. This is another monument that you can opt to pay the admission fee and go to the top or just wander around it for pictures.
The famous shopping street of Porto. We can just walk by without stopping if you don't want to shop
We will walk around the traditional Ribeira neighborhood and have lunch at one of the typical restaurants there. We can recommend the best local places to eat. We can also go to a nearby fishing village to try the best seafood and fresh fish. We will adapt it to what you prefer as there are many options.
A great Port Wine tasting house, that owns the oldest Port Wine house as well. This is just an example of a great place to try Port wines but we can take you elsewhere if you prefer. Admission is free and you only have to pay for whatever Port wines you order. If you don't drink Port or any alcohol at all we will add other places to our itinerary to make your day better.
Stop for pictures of the church and to overview the city of Gaia from Porto
The best place to take an amazing picture of the city of Porto as you will be on the opposite side of the river, facing the whole city.

We took a private tour to Porto with David, and this was one of the most enjoyable tourism experiences we’ve ever had! The Porto / Vila Nova de Gaia area is absolutely stunning, with so much to see and do. We could have easily spent multiple days there, but due to our scheduling we had to pack as much as we could into just one day. David is the ultimate professional that we all hope to meet when we sign up for tours. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable, and he provided many helpful tips for us, ensuring that we had the best possible time and that we were able to see all the places we wanted to go. Thank you, David, for a wonderful trip!
Dear Teri, Thank you for your amazing review of our Porto tour. You are right about how beautiful Porto and Gaia are. Totally worth going there even if it is just for a full day. For people that don't have much time in Portugal, this is an ideal way to waste no time and see all the good things about Porto. Hope you enjoyed the dinner before returning to Cascais! Best Regards, David Monteiro
Pedro was an amazing tour guide. He caters the tour to your pace, and interests. He also makes great suggestions of things to see, and every one of them were great decisions. Pedro also throws in a couple of surprises along the way which add to the overall experience. The drive to Porto is approximately 3 1/2 hours each way, but Pedro makes the time go by seamlessly.
Dear Yony, Thank you very much for your review of the Porto tour with Pedro. You are absolutely right that all of us cater to our clients the best way possible to make their experience worth it. I know Pedro also took you to another town on the way that you wanted to see and that's what made the drive longer because usually it takes around 3 hours each way but as you said the time goes by seamlessly. Hope you enjoyed your time with us and remember us when you come back or have anyone you know coming here. Best Regards, David Monteiro
Porto is a beautiful must see city in Portugal. Most efficient way to see this place from Lisbon is by a private tour. David did not disappoint us. He arrived on time at our Lisbon hotel and was able to sit our family of 4 comfortably in his nice clean van. Take note that we had big luggages. He didn’t mind passing by Fatima as we randomly requested along the way. It was not originally part of the itinerary. He showed us the highlights of Porto along with great areas where only locals know. He took us to the best local restaurants too. Our family stayed overnight in Porto. David picked us on time again from our Porto hotel the following day before heading to Douro valley. He took care of our family very well until drop off to our hotel close to Lisboa airport where we departed back to USA the following morning. It was a concierge service for a reasonable price.
Dear Lorelei, Thank you very much for your review of our few days of tours around Portugal. It was a pleasure taking you, Owen, Sam and JP from North to South, also covering the Northeast with the Douro Valley tour. You are the kind of people that make me love what I do. Everyone accepted my suggestions of places to eat, what to see, etc, which allowed me to tailor the best local experience possible. Thank you for that. Looking forward to seeing you back here as a tourist or resident. Best Regards, David Monteiro
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! David is incredibly talented and kind - his knowledge of Portuguese culture and history runs very deep and more importantly, he is hilarious, friendly, and altruistic. I traveled with my mother and brother with David to Porto from Lisbon (making stops in Obidos and Nazare) and through the Douro Valley. David’s English was so good that I initially thought he was American, despite the fact that he was raised in the Lisbon area and in reality is just very gifted with languages (he speaks five of them). There was never a dull moment - we had so much fun with David. Thank you David - you were the best guide to the beautiful country of Portugal we could have asked for! Looking forward to staying in touch my friend.
Dear Andrew, Thank you very much for the review of our few days together. Loved meeting you, your brother Patrick and your mother Sheila. Thank you for your kind words about my language skills :D you only needed english though! There was never a dull moment thanks to all of you too. I had a lot of fun taking you around. Thank you again! Best Regards, David Monteiro
David and Daniel were very easy to work with and organized and prompt. It was an easy drive to Porto in a very comfortable van with Wifi and weather provided. We enjoyed our day and their assistance.
Dear Stuart, Thank you for your review of our Porto tour. Me and Daniel had a great time with you and your family and I am glad he was there to help me on that day because of all the construction going on. I believe you meant "water" instead of "weather" and yes, we do provide waters and wi-fi to our clients whenever they need it. Hope to see you coming back for more tours with us. Best Regards, David Monteiro
Thank you, thank you David for being a fantastic guide! Knowledgeable, accommodating, funny and friendly. We had the best time.
Dear Russ, Thank you very much for your review of our Porto tour. Glad you had the best time. We always strive for that. It was a great day and I am glad that the whole group enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing you again for more adventures! Best Regards, David Monteiro
David was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, so accommodating to our special requests, and lots of fun! It was a great memorable day in Porto.
Dear Christina, Thank you very much for your review of our Porto tour. We all had a great time exploring the charming city of Porto along with stops at your selected places and a nice wine tasting before heading back to Lisbon. Will be looking forward to see the whole group back to Portugal for other tours! Best Regards, David Monteiro
Pedro our guide was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, kind and patient. He will customize the tour to meet your expectations. He was friendly and very attentive. Porto was my favorite place in Portugal, you will not be disappointed.
Dear Rolando, Thank you very much for your review of the Porto tour with Pedro. We are happy to know that you had a great day and enjoyed Pedro's guidance and adaptability to what you wanted to see and do. Porto is also one of our favorite places in Portugal, so we totally understand how you feel. Looking forward to having you on one of our tour again soon! Best Regards, David Monteiro
We had a truly amazing time with Pedro. His flexibility, knowledge and friendliness were appreciated. We took two additional stops on our tour, one to Fatima, one to a medieval village, and had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, O Rita, and Pedro joined us. We arrived in Porto, and had an all encompassing tour of the city before being dropped us off at our hotel that evening. Highly, highly recommend this private tour in Portugal.
Dear Suzanne, Thank you very much for your review of the day you spent with Pedro. Even though you booked the Porto tour, we organized everything so you could have 2 stops on the way, a nice walking tour of Porto and your drop off at the hotel where you spent the next few days. We like to personalize our clients' experience and that's what we did here. Glad you had a great time and we hope you can come back for more tours around Portugal with us! Best Regards, David Monteiro
Our family traveled to Lisbon for a family wedding. We decided to hire a tour guide so that we could take a week, prior to the wedding, to enjoy some of Portugal’s countryside. Luckily, for my family, I hired a “super guide”. Words cannot explain how wonderful, respectful, and knowledgeable David was. He went well beyond the call of duty. He pushed a baby stroller, wheelchair, and was even willing to stop the van “on the highway RIGHT NOW” (obviously an inside joke). He made special detours for us to visit with relatives, never once saying that it was too far, inconvenient, or not part of the itinerary. Even my relatives enjoyed his company and friendship. David became part of our family. So, if you want a tour guide that is experienced, gregarious and a fantastic guy HIRE David – you will not be disappointed.
Dear Terri, Thank you very much for your review of our 6 days around Portugal. I had an amazing time taking you around the country and all your cousins' places. I didn't go "beyond the call of duty". Just did what I always do: taking care of my clients like I would treat my family. There were some interesting moments when we almost had to stop on the highway "RIGHT NOW" thanks to Jax, but it is all part of the experience. Hope to see you, George, Ronnie, Ben and Shali here next year for another great trip! Best Regards, David Monteiro
