One of the Winery options on the itinerary. The winery embraces a modern approach to winemaking while respecting and honoring traditional winemaking techniques. João Portugal Ramos Winery is recognized for its diverse range of wines made from both indigenous Portuguese grape varieties and international varieties. Their portfolio includes white wines, such as Alvarinho and Verdelho, and red wines, such as Touriga Nacional and Syrah.

Admission included90 min

One of the options on the itinerary. The Adega Cartuxa got its name from the 16th century Mosteiro da Cartuxa (Cartuxa Monastery), which is situated right next to the winery and is part of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation's patrimony. Excellence, quality, and individuality in a style of its own are the values recognized by consumers of the Cartuxa brand.

Admission included90 min

One of the Winery options on the itinerary. The winery has a long history, with its origins dating back to the 16th century. Today, it is considered one of the most prestigious wineries in Portugal. Quinta São José da Pêra Manca is particularly famous for its red wines, which are made from traditional regional grape varieties such as Aragonez, Trincadeira, and Alicante Bouschet. These wines are known for their intense flavors, excellent structure, and aging potential.

Admission included90 min

One of the Winery options on the itinerary. Ervideira is one of the secular wine companies in Portugal, dedicated to producing wine since 1880. It currently has the fourth and fifth generation of active producers. The estate has a total of 160 hectares of vineyards, distributed by family properties in Vidigueira and Reguengos. Since the beginning the mission was to create truly unique and exclusive wines maintaining the quality of Portugese wines in the international market. Guided by the legacy left by their great grandfather, they rely on values that combines tradition and innovation.

Admission included120 min

One of the winery options. The Herdade do Esporão presents itself as an Estate steeped in history, producer of outstanding quality wines. The Esporão vines are located in the heart of Reguengos de Monsaraz, where wines are more balanced and seductive, simultaneously thriving and pleasant, luxuriant and with a good ageing potential. If the vines are the lung of the Herdade do Esporão, the cellar is the heart that beats to the rhythm of the harvest and as the result of the work defined by the calendar and by the oenology team.

Admission included30 min

The Chapel of Bones is a unique and intriguing attractions. It is a small chapel attached to the Church of St. Francis (Igreja de São Francisco) and is known for its macabre interior decoration. The chapel was built in the 16th century by Franciscan monks, with the purpose of conveying the message of life's transience and the importance of reflecting on mortality. The walls and pillars of the chapel are completely covered in human bones, creating a rather eerie and somber atmosphere. The bones used in the chapel are believed to be from around 5,000 monks. The remains were exhumed from nearby cemeteries due to lack of space and then carefully arranged to form intricate patterns and designs. Skulls are used as decorative elements, and there is even a creepy inscription above the entrance that translates to "We bones that are here await yours." Visiting the Chapel of Bones can be a thought-provoking experience.

60 min

Évora is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city dates back to Roman times and is full of ancient ruins, including a well-preserved Roman temple called the Temple of Diana. Évora is also famous for its well-preserved medieval walls, which enclose the historic center and offer stunning views of the city. The city's narrow streets are lined with beautiful whitewashed houses, charming squares, and historic churches. Évora is home to the impressive Cathedral of Évora, a Gothic-style masterpiece, as well as the eerie Chapel of Bones, adorned with skulls and bones. The city's university, founded in the 16th century, adds a vibrant energy to the town, making it a great place for students and intellectuals. Évora is also renowned for its gastronomy, with delicious traditional dishes like Alentejo-style pork and regional wines. Whether you're interested in history, culture, food, or simply admiring the beauty of this enchanting city, Évora offers a unique and captivating experience.

Admission included10 min

Also popularly known as Templo de Diana (Diana Temple), it was probably a place of worship to the Roman emperor of the time it was built. Located on the once Roman Forum of Evora and built in the beginning of the 1st century AD, this pagan monument of imposing proportions suffered different alterations during the Barbarian invasions and the Christian period. They all changed its main features. The majestic temple was only restored to its original glory in the 19th century.

Very nice walk

We made the tour of Évora with the guide José Costa and we had an amazing experience during the tour. We participate in tour and tasting in the wines of Cartuxa and Ervideira. Despite the rainy day, the charm of Évora and the wineries became even more evident. José Carlos was super attentive, kind and helpful in the information about the region and indication of the restaurant Fialho for our lunch. Delicious food and nice Mood. In fact, it was an experience that marked our memory and the cordiality of the attendance made all the difference. Our tour was scheduled to take place the day before. However, as informed by the agency, the driver of the van that would take us to the excuse had a problem, and we were only notified after the agreed departure time. This situation ended up undermining our previously scheduled agenda to explore the cities of the Lisbon region, demanding the reprogramming of our journey's scripts. Meanwhile, the Enterprise ended up solving the problem and indicating José Costa to perform the excuse in a private car, and the inconvenience was overcome by the excellent day and experience that we had unraveled Evora.

Cumprimentos, YesExperiences Portugal

The best operator!

This was already the third time we booked with YesExperiences Portugal, and every single experience has been outstanding. Our Alentejo tour was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we were picked up in Lisbon, everything was seamless and perfectly organized. The drive through the rolling Alentejo countryside was breathtaking, and our guide made the journey even more special by sharing so much local history and culture along the way. We visited charming wineries where the tastings felt authentic and personal, not touristy at all. The winemakers were passionate and welcoming, and we got to try some incredible wines that we’ll remember forever. Lunch in a traditional restaurant was another highlight—the food was delicious and felt like a true taste of Portugal. What really sets this company apart is the balance of professionalism and warmth. We never felt rushed, and every stop had its own story and character. It was the perfect mix of culture, gastronomy, and relaxation. We will definitely keep using YesExperiences Portugal every time we return to this beautiful country. Truly a company you can trust for unforgettable tours

The Alentejo is one of our favourite regions to share, not only for the wines but for the landscapes, the small producers and the traditional restaurants that show the real rhythm of Portuguese life. We’re very happy you enjoyed the wineries and the journey through the countryside as much as we do. Our goal is always to keep the day relaxed and personal, from pickup in Lisbon to the final stop, so guests can experience Portugal in an authentic way rather than a rushed tour. Too much driving and not a memorable experience.

A Long Tiring Day. Our driver was an hour late for pick up because of Lisbon traffic, we were further delayed getting out of Lisbon because of traffic. We were late for the cork production factory. They had to find a replacement guide to explain cork production. He looked like he just got out of bed and was very sarcastic , bordering on rude. The next stop was a winery and as usual we were late for the tasting. Everything was rushed there. They filled our wine glasses almost to the brim. It looked like they just wanted to get us drunk and out the door. The next stop was a fancy restaurant for lunch. We were late and the servers totally disinterested in us. It too an hour to get a cheese plate appetizer, we finally just gave up on the main course and left. We were then supposed to go to the Chappel of Bones but for not have enough time. Finally at our last wine tasting, Ervideiria we had a fantastic time! We were starving after about 6 hours on the road. They cooked us a meal and we had some great wines. Very friendly staff, this stop basically saved our trip and prevented it from becoming a disaster. The whole day trip was about ten hours. There were four of us, two couples and I would have to say we were disappointed in the overall experience.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that parts of your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your honesty. We sincerely apologize for the delay in the morning. While we always aim to start our tours on time, unfortunately, the traffic in Lisbon can be unpredictable and chaotic, especially during rush hours. That said, we understand how this impacted the flow of your day and we regret the inconvenience it caused. We’ll be reaching out to our partners, including the cork factory and the restaurant, to address the concerns you’ve raised. It’s important for us that our guests feel welcomed and valued at every stop, and we are committed to improving these experiences. Regarding the timing, as mentioned in the tour description, the day trip to Évora typically lasts around 9 to 10 hours due to the distance from Lisbon and the richness of the itinerary. However, we always aim to make the journey enjoyable and well-paced. We’re truly happy to hear that your visit to Ervideira was a highlight – it’s one of our favorite partners for their warmth and quality, and we’re so glad they helped turn your day around. Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We’re always working to improve and we hope to have the chance to provide a much smoother experience in the future. Kindest regards

Fantastic day trip

Miguel was the guide who escorted my disabled hubby and I for the day. He was very knowledgeable about the area’s history and also had great anecdotes. We have had many private guides over the years but none as considerate and helpful to my husband. Miguel would always make things as easy as possible for him. In addition to feeling like Royalty in his gleaming, purring BMW, Miguel gave us a fantastic day and memory.
