Wonderful experience

The cooking class was the first activity we did a few hours after landing in Lisbon. It set the bar quite high for the rest of our Portugal trip! This experience was definitely a highlight. Our instructor was so nice and knowledgeable. We loved to hear about the history of Portugal and how it was related to the traditional petiscos we were cooking. Sharing the food around the big table was also quite fun, in line with the fact that petiscos are meant to be shared. Our group of people had a fun energy, which made the night even better. Would definitely recommend.

Great Experience, Highly Recommend!

This was a great class. We arrived to a beautiful, spotless kitchen. Over the course of the next 3 hours not only did we learn how to cook several wonderful dishes, but we also learned so much about the culture of Portugal. I highly recommend this class!

Highlight of our Portuguese Adventure

The Petiscos cooking class was the highlight of our 10 days in Portugal! We had 4 people in our party (2 couples) and this class exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival for our 3-hour class, we were greeted by our chef instructor, Miguel. Admittedly, some of us were not sure about spending 3 hours in a class, but time flew by and Miguel was very engaging, patient, thorough, informative, and pleasant. He shared the history behind the dishes, showed us important techniques, and explained the reasons for the techniques. We learned to make a classic Portuguese potato soup called Caldo Verde, a cod fish fritter, a seared veal dish with a mustard and white wine sauce, a scrambled egg dish, and the popular pastry Pastel de Nata. Also included in the class was red and white wine, appetizer of chorizo and cheese, and apéritif liqueurs Port, Ginjinha, and an Almond liqueur that I don’t recall the name. The facility is fantastic and they have someone helping with cleanup as the class progressed. Once we finished with the cooking, we sat down and enjoyed the “fruits of our labors … fun labors”. I highly recommend the Homecooking School of Lisbon and Miguel. Come prepared to have a wonderful experience and bring your appetite. This was the best way to end a great trip to a beautiful country. I will also add that the booking experience on the Viator app was very easy and seamless.

Informative and Delicious!

The teacher was so kind and informative. I loved that we learned several dishes, everything tasted good! The only thing I wish is that they sent us home with a printer out cookbook, they told us it's on their website but I'm not sure where since I booked with Viator.

Excellent cooking class

The instruction was hands on and excellent step by step. We're not sure 'Petiscos' is a good title since the portions are so large. First course is a delightful bean and vegetable soup. Then three mains: in our class they were a beef and pickle stir, cod fish fritters (large) and an amazing smoked chorizo. Finished with pastel de nata which we made hands on at the beginning so they could bake and have warm. Lots of food. But all in all a great experience.
