Pastel making class. Exceptional experience.

The address needs to be clearer as there are two locations. Overall the instructors were excellent. Rui and Rachel were patient, knowledgeable, engaging and superb.

Terry is amazing. So much fun for the whole family.

We did a pastel de nata making class and Terry was absolutely amazing. I’m coeliac, and even though I had my own workstation, she made sure I felt fully included with the rest of my family the whole way through. She’s an absolute bundle of energy and even got my teenage boys involved and having fun, which isn’t always easy! I felt so spoilt. It’s not often I get to enjoy beautifully made treats like this, and these were gorgeous. The added bonus of getting to finish off the custard was a lovely touch too. Cannot thank Terry and her colleague enough for such a wonderful afternoon.

Everyone could do it!

It was a wonderful experience. Theresa, our instructor, gave us a warm welcome and devoted plenty of attention to each guest. All the recommendations were useful, and I even bought some baking molds at the end of the workshop. Everyone’s pastries turned out well, and we each took two home. Thanks for organizing it.

Great workshop hosted by...

Great workshop hosted by Mike and Rui. We were able to make some great pasteis de natas and at the end of the workshop we were told the history of the pastel de nata followed by getting to eat them. If you're looking for a fun not too serious class this is the one for you!

Great way to spend a rainy day in Porto!

We had been enjoying the Pasteis de Nata during our time in Portugal so thought why not learn how to make them? Our workshop was in the back of an art studio, where we started with some light snacks before heading to the kitchen to learn the process. The pastry was pre-made (it takes too long to include it in this workshop) but we went through the rest of the process step by step. We worked in small groups making the custard and our instructors were excellent helping us along the way. It was a lot more involved than I expected! After the custard was made, we rolled out the pastry to make the shells, then filled them. While they were in the oven we enjoyed more snacks and drinks (including port!) then we got to enjoy the final product (we got the 3 actual tarts we had made) and some of us actually even took some of them away with us in a nice souvenir box! They tasted pretty good too! Highly recommend doing this class on your trip to Porto!

Exceptional GF Pastel de Nata Class

My wife and I did the pastel de nata cooking class in early May 2026. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish: booking direct with Domus Arte was easy; they took exceptional pains both during the booking process and on the day to ensure a gluten-free workspace for my celiac wife; Domus Arte is very clean, professional, and welcoming; and the instructor (Teresa) was exceptional in her enthusiasm, energy, care, and inclusion of all the class participants. While this is a great excursion for anyone, we especially recommend it if you need to eat gluten-free, as Domus Arte are very careful and attentive on this.
