Firstly, a health warning. Make sure you eat before you go on the tour! Alex was our guide and he was extremely friendly and informative. We now know the difference between the different types of port, especially after seven glasses….. Trying port in Porto is a must and this is an excellent and fun introduction.
This was a fabulous experience from start to finish. Alex, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and lots of fun too. It was so great to talk with a lovely group of people we were on the tour with. Would totally recommend.
Absolutely brilliant experience. Alex our guide ‘made this exceptional’. Fabulous customer service, excellent knowledge of the port wines and just enough time in each port house. Would highly recommend
What a guide Cyril was!! Filled with fun facts and a leisurely pace. Never felt rushed and we had the chance to get to know the other members. His knowledge of wine and Portugal was outstanding.
This is a walking tour, but it is not hard. Plenty of wine and there was no pressure to purchase. I recommend bringing some crisps or nuts, or buying some on site. It's truly a lot of wine. I met lovely people in my group and was pleased that there were a few other solo travelers on the tour.
Great experience in the heart of Porto. Learned a lot about Port wine and Porto. Our guide was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. A great time.
Alex was the perfect guide - knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly friendly. He made everyone in the group, who were complete strangers at the start, feel comfortable and included. By the end of the experience, it felt like we were a group of friends. The port wines were absolutely delicious, and we learned so much about how port wine is made. The tour was both enjoyable and informative, and we had a fantastic time from start to finish. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!
Amazing experience, Francisco was a fantastic tour guide super knowledgeable, funny and friendly. Was nice to have an experience that not only included port and its history but the history of Portugal and the city of Porto, found out so many interesting things and Francisco even gave us all his local recommendations of food / places to go after - really impressed would happily go again :)
Lovely, warm welcome, full of humour and knowledge of Porto, port wine, it's production and it's history and it's houses. Made everyone feel welcomed, included and encouraged connection between the group.
Our tour guide, Alex was funny and extremely knowledgeable regarding how port wine is made as well as the local history. He went above and beyond being helpful and ensuring everyone got to where they needed to be when the tour was finished, We spent the most time at Calem winery to tour it's extensive cellars and small musuem on the premises. The tasting room is very large and was already set up in readiness for our visit. There was a short walk to the 2nd stop at Vasques D Carvalho. The final stop was at a small family winery, Piano , that has recently placed 1st in a port wine competion. It only started producing wine under it's own label 15 years ago. It had been producing wine for others for decades. Alex explained the legacy of how the wine making tradition had been passed down in the family to the next generation. All in all this was an excellent experience and a GREAT value for the money.
