The Myth of how Rome came to be is intrinsically linked to this unique building. From the sacred Temple and fields of Mars, originally outside the city walls of Rome to the founder of Romulus. The later Augustan structure still stands today in a perfect state, two thousand years later, thanks to the Church that it has become - inside the world of Basilicas converge - pagan and Christian. The tombs of King and Queen and the formidable ashes of Rafaelo lay here for eternity.
The exterior of the Pantheon, its columns, circular temple formation, layers of history explained (the monument allows us to see the past thus helping us visualize what is to come in the future. The dome with it's surprising and unique oculus (open to the sky) - the spot were Romulus was struck by lightning (it is said).

I unfortunately cannot recommend this tour - while the tour guide was lovely, paying nearly $50 USD for a tour that lasted less than an hour with a 5 Euro entry fee was certainly not worth it. Additionally, a chapel service was starting at the end of our scheduled tour which kept interrupting our tour guide and made the tour feel rushed. While the Pantheon is great to visit, it would be best to do so without a tour guide.
Be on time! If you love history, bring something to take notes with. Our tour guide Elena was extremely knowledgeable and gave us so much good information!
Amanda was insightful, knowledgeable, funny and wanted me to have a meaningful experience.
Tough for the tour guide as there didn’t seem to be a lot to comment on regarding the pantheon, so a lot of time was spent talking about other locations. Your guide was knowledgeable but made not very energetic. Tour also kicked off late.
The Pantheon is a remarkable monument, but we understand that the amount and style of commentary can vary depending on the guide's approach. We understand how important punctuality is to our guests and the tour did start 10 minutes late because of a misunderstanding with the headsets, our entrances are however specific time slots allow us to enter on time with named entrance tickets, so all went well. We're pleased to hear that you found your guide knowledgeable, and we thank you for highlighting that aspect of your experience. Your comments are valuable and will help us continue refining the quality of our tours.
This tour was the perfect way to experience the Pantheon and get a true taste of Rome. Our guide, Amanda, described herself as “cheeky,” and that perfectly captured her personality. She was funny, engaging, and refreshingly honest, setting realistic expectations not only for the tour itself but for navigating Rome as a visitor. The Pantheon was absolutely spectacular, and Amanda brought its incredible history to life. Because she has an academic background in the subject, you could tell that everything she shared came from years of study and genuine passion. We learned so much beyond the basic facts, including fascinating behind-the-scenes details that made the experience even more meaningful. We also loved that this was a small group. It was easy to hear and understand Amanda through the audio system, and there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and interact. As an added bonus, we enjoyed delicious gelato and Prosecco at a charming family-owned neighborhood restaurant that Amanda personally frequents. The hospitality there was wonderful and made us feel like we were getting an authentic local experience rather than simply checking off another tourist attraction. If you’re looking for an intimate, informative, and genuinely enjoyable introduction to one of Rome’s most iconic sites, we highly recommend this tour. Amanda made an already unforgettable place even more memorable.
Guide was knowledgeable and delightful, Amanda recommend her as your guide. Shared local experiences
Elena did an amazing job with our tour of the Pantheon. Answered all our questions and spoke very well. She was also a pleasant person to talk with. She is definitely an asset to the Viator company...
Great short tour of the Pantheon! A nice overview with Roman history and architecture nicely explained. Francesca was wonderful!
The tour was interesting. I think it’s better with a tour guide than just walking in. Rosa, I believe, was our tour guide and she was great.
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the temple, now church. It was interesting to hear about how the structure looked originally vs now. She did a great job pointing out the small details throughout.
