A great option if taking the loop up north in the mountains is the Minoh Waterfalls
One area that provides great local cycling is along the riverways, like Inagawa, that runs with 15+ kilometers of dedicated cycle path. Along this river provides some good views of the Osaka area and of the Itami Airport.

Our guide, Aaron, was fantastic. The customized tour let us adjust the length of the ride based on our ability as we went. He has great knowledge of the area and was fluent in English. We had a fantastic time and the view of Minoh Falls was gorgeous! We would definitely ride with him again if we’re ever in the area!

I see a lot of bike rental shops around Osaka but Road Bike Rental Japan is the only one I found online that rents out road bikes and offer customized tours. This tour was the highlight of my Japan trip. This is an amazing way to see Osaka. Katsuoji Temple is not accessible by train so you either have to take a bus or taxi. Third option is to ride a bike going there. The experience was awesome especially with the colors of autumn in the background. Our guide, Aaron, was very considerate. He would always check if we were okay. I would definitely do this again.
