The iconic symbol of Osaka in the Kansai region of central Japan played an important role in the unification of Japan during the samurai era of the sixteenth century. WE DO NOT ENTER OSAKA CASTLE.
Amerika-mura - or Amemura to the locals - is a warren of narrow streets which is at the heart of youth culture in Osaka, with dozens of shops catering to fans of urban apparel and hip-hop wear. But even if you’re not clothes-shopping, there are plenty of foreigner-friendly bars and restaurants in the area.
A covered shopping street which has been Osaka’s most important shopping area for 400 years with hundreds of shops lining this 600-metre long street, walk down here to experience Japan’s love of consumer retail.
One of the main tourist destinations in Osaka, it is located along the Dōtonbori canal. The area is known for its nightlife and is filled with an explosion of neon lights, mouth-watering street food, retro vibes, stores, and bars. The area is also home to the famous Glico Man sign which is a popular photo spot for tourists and locals alike.
A hard to find, narrow alleyway that has preserved the atmosphere of old Japan with its traditional lanterns and cobblestone paths.
A small Buddhist temple located just off Dotonbori. Built in the 17th century and is dedicated to Fudo Myoo, one of the five wisdom kings in Buddhism.

This was such a fantastic tour. I took a 7 hour tour with Scott. Scott met us just right outside our Airbnb. Since the first moment he was so friendly and easy to talk with. He has lived in Osaka for many years and he is so passionate about it. He knows so much about Japan’s history as well and went so in depth about it too. This was great since my husband is a history teacher and I enjoyed Japan’s history as well. The first place we visited was the Osaka castle. While talking he heard about my interest of Japanese cholo culture so he took us to one of the most famous Cholo store at the city. We also went to eat the best takoyaki I ever had!!! Worthy of Osaka reputation. Another thing I think is worth noting, you could tell Scott knows everyone, at every place we went. People said hi to him and chat a little bit, Scott is definitely an Osaka local. Even though we walk for 7 hours the time passes by so fast and it felt very easy going. I even think kids can make this tour since we have enough time to rest in different places. Thanks for everything!

The tour was excellent— my guide Davin immediately made the tour feel comfortable, I was lucky enough to have a one-on-one tour, which immediately had the experience feeling casual and not like I was stuck to a strict itinerary, so totally worry-free! Davin provided a lot of information about the history of Osaka, as well as modern-day life in Japan, all surrounded by some really cool spots, and of course an absolutely delicious lunch meal! It was nice to experience a tour with some genuine connection— to learn about not only the city but about Davin really made it feel like a walking tour with a friend! Would highly recommend the tour in general, and if I come back to Osaka in the future (hopefully) I would book another one of the tours gladly! Scott was an absolute ripper guide! He was heaps knowledgeable and loved sharing his Osaka Castle stories with us. The communication and walking pace were perfect for beginners, and there were heaps of stops to snap photos and chill out. Our tour guide Davin was amazing, super knowledgeable and engaging. He knows so much about Osaka history, the people, the spectacular castle, local areas to visit, places to eat and its quirks. Even though it was incredibly hot to be on a walking tour that day he went out of his way to make sure that we stayed as cool as possible by walking through malls and giving us wet towels to wrap around our necks in the heat. We saw so much, learned a ton and truly had a great time. Best walking tour ever!
