Here you will spend about 3 hours on the plantation grounds exploring a national historic landmark. This historic site is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history its inhabitants left behind. With an emphasis on its time as a working sugarcane plantation, visitors are invited to experience the exhibits, walk under the iconic Allee of Oak Trees, and tour the big house. You will have the opportunity to have lunch at the restaurant or deli. You can spend a few moments in the gift shop, at the bar, or just sit under the many oak trees on the plantation.
To close out the day, you will take a 75-minute ride back to the city on the Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge overlooking Lake Pontchartrain before heading back to your hotel.

Can’t rate Kin highly enough, he was engaging, informative and fun. Travelling with 2 teenagers and my parents everyone loved him. We left gift shop items on the bus and Kin arranged to meet me the following day so I could get them. In Scotland we Kin means family and that’s certainly what the tour felt like, being looked after as if you were family.
We booked the Oak Alley Plantation Tour with Kindrell, and even though it was a rainy day, he made the entire experience wonderful from start to finish. The organization was excellent from the get-go. Kindrell texted us the night before to coordinate all the details, then sent another text the morning of the tour letting us know when to be outside the hotel. He picked us up right on time in his van, which was super comfortable for the ride. What really stood out was how knowledgeable Kindrell is about the area. He stopped along the way (in safe, designated spots) so we could take pictures of gators and other wildlife, and he shared photos and history throughout the drive, making the trip itself part of the experience. Once we arrived at the plantation, Kindrell went above and beyond — he walked in with us, explained the layout so we wouldn't get lost, and even pointed out which tour guides to look for so we could make the most of our visit. When the tour ended, he was right there waiting for us, on time, and shared a video with even more history about the plantation. He also sent us a list of restaurant recommendations tailored to everyone in our group afterward, which was such a thoughtful touch. Kindrell makes the tour fun, entertaining, and personal — honestly, it wouldn't have been the same experience without him. We would book with him again without any hesitation. Highly recommend!
Great overall experience. Transportation included a lot of great general New Orleans history, and we got to see a lot of plantations on River Road, even though we only stopped at Oak Alley.
Kindrell was a great tour guide. He gave us a lot interesting information on the way to the plantation. Oak Alley was nice.
The transportation to the valley and back was great 10/10 . As far as oak valley tour it was okay they lacked a lot of details on how the slaves weee treated and their daily responsibilities seems pretty commercial / watered down. DO WHITNEY INSTEAD if you are truly interested in learning or a POC and want to really know your history and get a true experience. The grounds is well kept I would recommend just for the layout visual but for the true nitty gritty nope.
Our guide Kin was great with communicating with us for pick up, very entertaining, with clear commentary, he cared about his job and the visitors taking the tour. He was full of local recommendations whilst at the plantation and back in New Orleans. He was active to show us alligators on the journey and provide us information about Whitney Plantation when leaving to take home with us. We can highly recommend his tours.
Great experience. Kin is funny, engaging, and informative on the drive out to the plantation. And the plantation itself is very interesting. Highly recommend.
Kim was awesome, checking in on his way to pickup and providing a phone charger to borrow as well as keeping us educated and entertained on the long drive. He was very personable, knowledgeable and helpful. I’m not sure this was the most interesting plantation to visit but it was a good one.
Kin was wonderful definitely recommend this tour! I think next time I would pick the Whitney Plantation as I feel Oak Alley was more visually stunning versus what really happened.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review!
Kin was an excellent tour guide. Not only did he give us a lot of information about the plantation, he also provided us with a lot of information about other local attractions and restaurants. The plantation itself was amazing. The facility and grounds were very well maintained. We can't recommend this tour enough.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review!
