Oak Alley is named for its distinguishing visual feature, an alley thats created by a double row of beautiful live oak trees about 800 feet long, planted in the early 18th century. A lot of stops

First they tried to renege on picking us up at our hotel as agreed. Finally, they managed to put us on a bus that could pick us up, but it stopped to let people on and off 4 different hotels and 5 different tours. Driver/guide did a good job. Our visit to Alley Oak was great. Had a great lunch at the site. Overall OK, couldn’t recommend.

The worst experience

The tour was explicitly advertised and sold as a Spanish-language tour, which was the deciding factor for our booking. However, the tour was conducted entirely in English. This is misrepresentation and false advertising. The service provided does not match what was purchased.

Operator response

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration this caused. You are absolutely right this was an error on our part, and we take full responsibility. The listing has been corrected to ensure this does not happen again in the future. We truly regret the mismatch between what was advertised and what was delivered, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our service moving forward.

Good but rushed

Good tour although rather rushed at Oak Alley as tour guide of house asked for questions but didn’t really want them as need keep moving as next group was coming behind us. Not enough time to look at slave accommodation and absorb the information.

Well worth the time

Once we arrived it was well worth it. The tour through the grand house was very informative. As well as the information about the slave homes. Would have liked a little more time as we didn’t see everything.

Breathtaking!

The beauty of the grounds at Oak Alley is breathtaking! The tour was very informative as it carried us through the generations who owned the home. I appreciated how the role of the slaves within the home was incorporated throughout the tour. It surely gave a sobering account of the exploitation of these poor souls amidst the opulence of the home and its owners. I certainly walked away with a better understanding of life on a plantation. The guide that did the slavery tour was not only informative but very passionate. Highly recommend.

Oak Alley

Early morning pick-up worked perfect as we avoided traffic. It's an hour journey till the destination for a tour that takes 30min, the time spent at the permisses depends on the time that you arrive there. I had a good hour to explore and view everything. The tour around the house is guided and our guide Leanne was amazing and explained everything. The driver was really good explaining everything on the way in and back, we even stopped for some movies spots. Save the morning for this as from pick-up to drop off was around 4 hours.
