I’ll preface this by saying I have not experienced any other luau to compare this to. However, I was not satisfied with the experience and could not recommend to anyone else. The only positive marks I would give this review is for the performers/performances. They were fantastic and I truly appreciate what they brought to the event. We purchased the Splash Premium package and had decent seating. The location is very strange for a luau. It’s in a shopping center at a port which is weird for a luau. There are lots of empty storefronts, fencing blocking views of undesirable areas, and construction happening on the Aloha Tower. The pricing is steep considering all of this up front. The food was not great. It was cold and it felt like a rushed cafeteria line. The chicken was extremely tough. Drinks were also not explained well beforehand. Your drink tickets cover a very small sized drink and if you want a larger drink you have to pay additional. Dessert was also a joke. A small piece of cake. The show overall was pretty good as I said earlier. However, everything felt rushed. The whole experience was right at 2 hours. We arrived at 4:45 and got in at 5:15 and the show was over at 7:30. Overall, spend your money elsewhere. This is not cheap and really not worth what we paid for it.
The show was lively and entertaining with good audience engagement. The program is well organized and entry was handled very smoothly. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I felt the luau was a waste of time and money. The food was horribly bad, you get free drink tickets but somehow have to pay $24 extra plus the free drink ticket for an alcohol drink in a pineapple…there are other drinks for cheaper plus your free drink coupon, the stage was right in front of the sun so sun was beaming in our eyes. I have video of the stage and sun facing us, I felt like there was more talking about the history rather than dances, you purchase the photos they take of you and they cost $50. I would have thought for almost $500 for 3 people the pictures could have been included. Also I thought it would be on the beach but it’s at a harbor so no beach background. I feel it was way overly priced for such a bad experience. My oldest son did tell me it was a waste of money but I guess I had to see for myself. My party ended up leaving the luau early and catching an uber instead of shuttle because the shuttle took us an hour to get there and uber took us 12 min and only $15 so we could go get food before heading back to the hotel to pack.
It was a nice show but the food was not good. There was no ocean view. For the price, it could have been better. I would tell someone to go to another luau. It was not worth it.
Beautiful cultural experience! Hospitality was amazing. This venue has vegetarian options which I very much appreciated. One of the service workers noticed my veggie plate and offered to grab me something extra. Wonderful service and mahalo!!!
Absolutely love it. The host was amazing. Use the dancing food. Everything was wonderful.
Fun interactive activities, great performances, delicious food! Would highly recommend, 10/10 hands down 🌺🧡
This was my second time attending the Ka Moana Lūʻau, and I knew I had to come back so I could share the experience with my daughter. I'm so glad I did because she absolutely loved it! From the moment we checked in, everything was well organized and welcoming. The photo opportunities were beautiful, and the cultural heritage activities before the show were so much fun. The staff leading the activities were incredibly friendly, engaging, and funny. They joked with everyone, made us laugh, and really made guests feel comfortable. It was even more impressive to see that many of them were also the performers in the show! The performances were amazing. The storytelling through music and dance was beautiful and kept us engaged from beginning to end. You could tell how much passion and pride the performers have for sharing their culture, and it made the experience feel authentic and meaningful. The buffet was good, and the drinks were just as enjoyable. The venue itself is beautiful, especially with the waterfront setting, which made for a perfect Hawaiian evening. Overall, this was another unforgettable experience, and seeing my daughter enjoy it as much as I did made it even more special. If you're visiting Oʻahu and looking for a fun, entertaining, and family-friendly lūʻau with great food, wonderful staff, and an amazing show, I highly recommend the Ka Moana Lūʻau!
I paid $336 for "mid-tier Splash seating", and was stuck way back in a corner with my wife with a horrible view of the stage. I could only see the performers from about the knees up, and was so far away I couldn't tell who was a man or a woman except by how they dressed. Also, a giant tree blocked my view of the left half of the stage, so I couldn't see the musicians, either. Total rip off for the price I paid. And don't believe them when they say it's "oceanfront". It's not, you are in a concrete harbor/plaza with barely a glimpse of the ocean. It all feels very shoddy and run-down. Oh, and the food? Hope you enjoy lukewarm chicken, fish, and pork served out of Styrofoam containers. Oh, and there are only 2 lines for food, so hope you enjoy waiting 15-20 minutes for to fill your Styrofoam box. Same goes for the drinks. I also hope you enjoy being crammed in flimsy chairs at flimsy tables with a bunch of strangers. It's fun at first to make small talk, but it quickly becomes awkward and uncomfortable. You have no space at all. They are trying to cram as many people as they can into each show to maximize profit and don't care about your individual comfort. For the premium price they charge, the overall experience feels very low-quality and like they are cutting corners to extract maximum profit. There are much better choices, especially closer to Waikiki. Not worth the price, not worth the trip. Just... Not worth it. At all. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
The dancers and entertainment saved this whole experience. I hope they make a decent wage and living because whoever owns this establishment owes what minimal success they have to them. Location is a zero- actual luau - a 2- no fire- no pig roasting ( I’m aware you can’t eat it and that the staff eat it, but it would have been a fun thing to experience) I thought it was a joke when we arrived. I should have done more research for something so expensive. The food was a zero- ambiance - zero. You don’t need to splurge for better seating you can see from the back row. Do not book a luau through the travel agency in your hotel.
