NYC: Metropolitan Museum of Art Guided or Self-Guided Tour

Description
The Metropolitan Museum of Art houses one of the greatest art collections in the world. With over two million works of art and artifacts, ranging from ancient Greece and Egypt to Modern art from Europe, it is New York’s must-see museum. Maximize your time with a small group guided tour or a private tour of popular galleries with an expert guide. Alternatively, explore on your own after a 30-minute orientation session. Walk through 5000 years of art history, seeing the Egyptian temple of Dendur, masterpieces of the Robert Lehman collection, the original facade of a Wall Street bank, and more! Art movements like impressionism, cubism, and abstract expressionism unfold before your eyes. If there's a specific area you're excited to visit, ask your guide. You can stay and explore the exhibits until closing. With your entry ticket, you can also visit The Cloisters uptown on the same day. The Met has extended hours on Friday and Saturday evenings for a quieter, exclusive experience.

It was a good experience it was a little difficult to find him when we arrived but we did stand by the statue and did find him
Thank you so much for your kind review! We're delighted to hear you had a good experience and enjoyed the tour. We're especially glad our guide's knowledge helped make your visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art even more enjoyable. We appreciate your feedback about finding the meeting point. We'll continue looking for ways to make the check-in process even clearer for our guests. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you on another adventure in New York City soon!
I think there’s two items that cause this to be a poor review: foremost I expected more for the cost. Not quantity, time was defined. Quality was lacking. The guide showed us pieces where I’d question why we were reviewing the story of one piece when a more extravagant one nearby with more onlookers were there. Art is subjective for sure. Popularity is something. Happy we saw a Monet piece and Van Gogh piece. Surprised no mention of the Water Lilies piece. Some very large pieces from Japan had many people crowded around. We looked at samurai armor. I can appreciate the armor, but it was one of a number of instances where me and my children were in awe of something in another room nearby and we were looking from afar. Second was the guide. I would have loved having him if it was myself and a partner. I was there with 3 kids 11-17, and an 84 yr old mom (details I submitted). The guide spoke softly and with a thicker accent that I could understand… but the rest of my family could not. The couple (as it turns out, they were Eastern European - the guide was Spaniard and spoke with a thicker accent and it was clearly a challenge for them too) that was in our group actually commented on this to him right away (“we don’t understand you, can you at least speak louder?”). I think for the cost, knowing the ages I provided, and the note I made about an older person (who is strong and walked the whole tour with the group), I would expect attention to that detail in scheduling
Went for the RAPHAEL exhibit. It was easy to find, we'll laid out, and full of wonderful painting and drawings. A bit crowded; but that's vto be expected with this kind of show.
The Met opens at 10 am. Our guide asked us to meet him inside. You need to get there early so you can be close to the front of the line to get in. I would suggest meeting the guide outside
Thank you for sharing your experience and for the helpful suggestion. The Metropolitan Museum of Art opens at 10:00 AM, and entry lines can form quickly, especially during busy seasons. We appreciate your recommendation about arriving early. Meeting guides outside the museum before opening can certainly make the check-in process smoother and help guests enter together more efficiently. We value your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve the experience for future visitors. Thank you for choosing our tour, and we hope to welcome you back to New York again soon!
If I could give no stars I would. They don't tell you that there are massive lines outside the Met so when you go to meet up, you essentially won't make it on time and I think they count on that. They denied my refund for an experience that we never got to participate in and they took a couple of days to respond. Every attempt to contact the company at the time of the tour was unsuccessful. Scam.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. We always advise guests to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time, especially at The Met, where security and entrance lines can be very busy. Our guide was present at the meeting point with the pre-purchased, non-refundable tickets and waited for guests before beginning the tour. Since this is not a private tour, we also need to be considerate of other participants who arrived on time. We understand your frustration, but unfortunately missed tours are not refundable once tickets have been purchased and the guide is on-site. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to make arrival instructions as clear as possible.
It was hard to understand the guide. He rushed through the tour & did not thoroughly explain each exhibit. We thought this was a 2 hour tour & we finished in 90 minutes. The guide kept saying we need to finish.
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that your booking was for the self-guided option, not the full guided tour. The self-guided experience allows guests to explore at their own pace using the provided materials, and does not include a dedicated live guide for the full duration. If there was any confusion at check-in, we apologize and are happy to review what may have occurred. We appreciate your visit and your feedback. Best regards, Attractions4us Team
Our tour guide was excellent, he had an accent but was easy to understand, he was very knowledgeable and tried to give us a well rounded tour as the met has so much to see! He was great and added to our experience!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great experience at the Met and that your guide made the tour both engaging and easy to follow. It’s true—the museum has so much to offer, and we’re glad he was able to provide a well-rounded and informative visit. We really appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again on another tour soon! Best regards,

Thank you for your review! We’re glad to hear you had a great experience exploring the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With such an incredible collection spanning thousands of years of art and history, it truly is impossible to see everything in just one day. Your suggestion to come back for another visit is a great tip for future travelers. Thank you for visiting, and we hope you enjoyed discovering the many amazing exhibits throughout the museum!
Had a fantastic time. Our guide was very informational, and it was pleasant to also know that he spoke our Spanish language.
Our tour guide provided great details for getting around the museum and things to see. Loved going through and seeing all the beautiful art. Was very easy to get around on the self guided tour.
