Absolutely the best way to see NYC is to see it from the water at night, and this tall ship was a blast! Excellent bartender and captain/crew. Highly recommend.
Amazing evening cruise with views you cannot get from anywhere else. Loved that the sails were up and enjoyed a quiet ride. Would highly recommend this tour as a great way to finish a day in New York City. Such a bonus to sail over to the Statue of Liberty and see it lit up at night The staff was very friendly..
This was one the best experiences. This is definitely something that you should add to your TO DO list. The owners are great and very personable. It was amazing to see the crew raising, trimming, and lower the sails with meticulous precision. We loved seeing the city from the water at night. You do not want to miss this experience.
Absolutely infuriating experience with Manhattan by Sail booked through Go City. I had a fully valid Go City pass, yet was forced to jump through hoops using the Go City app and enter a credit card just to make a reservation. Why? Apparently just so Manhattan by Sail could sneak in an extra charge anyway. What’s the point of a pass if I’m still paying out of pocket? Even worse, their customer service was a total joke—zero accountability, no real help, and definitely no refund. They just kept pointing fingers at Go City, who also shrugged it off. This felt like a scam, not a sightseeing experience. If you're thinking of booking this through Go City—don’t. You'll pay twice and get nowhere fast.
After a cancellation and a rearrangement, the cruise was well worth waiting for! It was excellent! Entertained by the crew raising and lowering the flags and watching the lovely lights in the background before finally seeing the Statue of Liberty in all her glory. We did feel a bit on the outside though as there was clearly a photo shoot/ party happening which made us feel excluded.
An experience definitely to plan in your trip to New York. Nothing makes the image of Manhattan's night skyline, Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge better than seeing them from the East River. The sailboat is very nice and the ride for durability and beauty is worth all the money spent.
Great experience! We had initially booked the city night lights cruise, but although it was cancelled at the same day, they offered us some new available days to reschedule the activity and an upgrade to the sunset + jazz cruise, so at the end it was great.
Not recommended. After we received a confirmation for the tour the next day by e-mail, shortly afterwards an inconspicuous text-like email came that the tour was brought forward to 2.5 hours. This was not possible for us on the one hand and on the other hand the mail was misunderstood as the second mail for the second reservation. We therefore did not assume a postponement and were therefore 2.5 hours late at the starting point. Completely disappointed we are dressed again. We could not reach anyone and there was no response to an email. But today I was asked about my experience about the tour, in which I could not participate at all. The store is obviously completely overwhelmed in its orga. Fingers off!!!
We did this for a team outing and it was the most fun! A couple team members were able to help hoist the sails, which they really enjoyed. There was full bar, DJ, blankets, and great views! We will definitely do it again. Thank you to Tom who is the owner and you can tell really enjoys what he does. Thank you for taking care of us :)
I have done this cruise already 3 times. A few years ago, it was amazing. Very chilled, true sailing, nice jazz music. This time around the entire tour was done with the (loud) engine on, yet it was really just a trip to the Statue of Liberty and back.
Dear DB, Perhaps you mistakenly sailed with and are reviewing a different company? My records show that you sailed with us in 2022, and not since. We sail from Pier 17 at the Seaport now and not from Pier 35. Manhattan By Sail features live music onboard each of our sunset and evening cruises & raise sail each and every sail.
