Never Again Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp

Description
This THOUGHT-PROVOKING, UNIQUE and ENGAGING tour, "Never Again,” has been created to help the visitors unravel the realities and nightmares of one of the darkest periods of modern history. It's time for a journey of consciousness, a pursuit of remembrance and change. There is not enough talk about what happened, we have to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We will talk about the victims of this concentration camp and the Holocaust in general, and draw parallels to current events. The conversation is designed to challenge all of us. Things to note: The tour is meant for persons aged 13 or older. Each guide will be identified with a small yellow flag and our name! This tour involves a lot of walking.

Itinerary
Our walk from the train station leads us to the visitors’ center, where detailed models of the camp elucidate the physical structures designed for control and the perpetuation of superiority over prisoners. Uncover the unsettling transformation of the former SS training camp into today’s Brandenburg police academy, a stark reminder of the site’s dark history. Embark on an autonomous exploration of the prisoners’ barracks and the camp kitchen, where Neo-nazis denying the Holocaust have launched attacks. Uncover connections to the present, including the rise of the AfD, a German far-right group. Finally, the infirmary unveils the depths of racism, control over women’s bodies, eugenics, and the unsettling truth of prisoners treated as lab rats for the career advancement of Nazi doctors. This profound journey challenges us to confront the past, understand the present, and strive for a future that rejects the atrocities of history.

Our guide was super competent and we had such an informative visit. So yes you have to walk and you will soon understand that it does not matter..A big thank you. Let us remain vigilant and far-sighted so that this type of behaviour NEVER happens again.
0lus alive than an audio guide and pickup in Berlin is convenient! Nice and very committed guide.
Sharing anecdotes on and around the subject. Contact amical. Knew how to make the visit interesting and not as heavy of emotions as we could have anticipated.
There are no words to describe what happened there but there are some for this visit: very friendly guide, understandable explanations with language appropriate to the situation. We were able to ask all the questions we had because there were only 8. I recommend Siobhan as a guide!
The presentation of the camp and the history of World War II was complete. Thank you to Siobhan for his kindness and professionalism.
We toured in February and despite the cold and atmosphere of the camp, our guide managed to keep the tone to explain clearly what was at stake in this camp. I really enjoyed the experience but I wish I "never" needed to make such a visit again. The team was very attentive to our needs.
Take warm clothes!! It was a horrible cold wind and rain that day in January Hooded glove umbrella for winter visits
Visit and experience very informative and touching about the horror of the shoah. We recommend Siobhan who is an excellent guide!
I was on the fence about visiting Sachsenhausen but in the end I was really glad that I made the trip and used with this outfit. To be clear, this is not a dense, academic, scripted tour but still one that thoroughly explains Sachsenhausen's uniquely grim history as, first, the Nazi's "model" concentration camp, later a Soviet "special" camp and finally a pro-communist, anti-fascist propaganda tool. What I liked about and believe differentiates this tour, is that our guide Siobhán's knowledgable commentary was filtered through a progressive, feminist lens, connecting the past with the present. (It is not heavy handed, but if this is not your political slant, this might not be the tour for you.) Siobhán was very sensitive to the extraordinary brutality, suffering, and loss of life that took place at Sachsenhausen as well as the feelings of those who visit the site, and she imparted this deference to the group. That said, while she rightfully set a respectful tone, she also managed to insert an appropriate level of levity (if that is the right word?) at certain points, so that while the tour was certainly very sad and at times absolutely sickening, I left feeling educated-- better, not broken. I will also add that a few participants (including me) had travel snags, and the outfitter was very helpful, patient and communicative. All in all, it was a very positive experience that I would recommend to friends.
Hi Julia! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, I deeply appreciate your kind words and it was a pleasure having you on my tour and exchanging with y’all. Hope you got to check out our other tours, and had a safe trip back to NY! :) all the best!
