Definitely an experience even though the volcano was wrapped in fog when we reached the top point. Delicious hiking in well-hilled terrain and wildlife. Good informative guides with each their competencies. Delicious right to round with the hot springs to the end.
Everything was very good; on top of that, we had a sunny day, very lucky. Jason led the tour; he was a great guide.
The hike was OK, not overly strenuous, but not overly interesting. We did see a sloth, which is unusual from what I understand. The Hot Springs were very unique, although a challenge to access from the road. The lunch was good, and the staff worked hard to make the excursion enjoyable.
Great experience, highly recommend for anyone visiting first time. Beautiful hike. Guide was very informative. Amazing views of volcano.
I am giving this 5 stars even with the fact that it was a very cloudy day and we could not see the volcano at all. If your only goal is to see the volcano then you should know that its not easy to guarantee. Even without seeing it, I had an amazing time. The hike itself is very doable for fit people. If you think you are not as fit as youd like to be, there is an easier trail option so everyones included. Both groups meet at the same meeting point. My group was nearly insufferable for reasons that dont really matter, I just recommend paying attention to the guide when they are talking lol. But besides that, it is still a very fun hike and they also take you to el choyin hot springs. It is the public one for free so its very crowded but still nice that its included in the tour.
Very good, the guide attentive, the excellent lunch! The pure hike is quite heavy, take it into account if you plan to do another tour afterwards!
The tour was super tuanis, thanks to the guide Norlan, who makes the same customers feel comfortable with different jokes and creating a fun atmosphere. The walk was super fast and entertaining, somewhat tired for people who don't usually walk but all good. Lunch was delicious, it is satisfying to finish the walk for lunch, my favorite part lol. It is an activity that can certainly be done with friends or family. I recommend it 100%. On the other hand, we didn’t want to go to Choyín as we were very tired, but, the most bombshell was that Norlan helped us to get dropped off in the center of La Fortuna, thanks to driver William because not only did he raid us but he left us to the door of our house and we had the pleasure of living with him and another guide (we didn’t ask the name) but it was quite fun the trip back. #puravida #hakunamatata
The hike was fine Luckily we had clear weather. Wouldn’t want to hike in the rain or after a wet spell. Had a choice of two hikes up. View at the end of the hike to see the volcano. If you don’t want to hike we saw ATV’s. The hot (warm) hot springs are public and just a hop over the guardrail. Quite a party going on but you can find room.
Thank you for your review, just wonder, if you were happy with the weather, the hike and the hot springs; why did you give us just 3 stars? :(
We had a lovely hike and learned a lot about the nature even though visibility was limited and we didnt see any bigger animals due to the rain. Hats off for our guides Daniel and Gonzalo for being so knowledgeable. The dip to the hot spring river afterwards was a really nice ending. Overall enjoyable, not too rushed and also not very challenging if you have hiked before.
We had a great time on this tour! The hike up the side of the volcano was quite good. We did not see much in the way of birds or animals during the hike, but our guides were certainly helpful and looking for interesting things. They carried scopes so we could see a couple of well hidden birds which we certainly would have missed had our guides not spotted them. The hike itself was good. I wouldn’t call it strenuous, but you definitely got a bit of a workout. We were shaded most of the time so it was comfortable. The view from the top was worth the effort. Lunch was fabulous, with food selections for everyone— including a vegetarian option. Then we were off to the river, which is fed by hot springs. A very nice way to relax those leg muscles!! Like clockwork, we were delivered back to our pickup point within the expected timeframe. A few things we didn’t know: You should bring your own water and refillable bottle. The hike does have a decent elevation change (we knew that!), with some “steps”. Good traction on your shoes is a definite plus. A pair of water shoes for the river are a good idea— you’ll walk across the rocky river bed to get to a nice spot in which to recline. Some type of foot wear is helpful. There’s no place to change out of your bathing suit before heading back into town. We were not staying in La Fortuna— so had a tough time picking out a pickup point. We randomly selected a hotel from a list after sending a couple of inquiries about pickup using What’s App that did not get a response. It all worked out in the end, but we were a bit concerned since we had to arrange a boat ride and a car service to get to our pick up location. In the end, it was a fun filled day with great guides who made sure we had a great experience.
