Your trip begins with a scenic, narrated motor coach ride to the beautiful Mendenhall Lake where you’ll gear up, board your raft and take off on an unforgettable adventure. Your experienced guide will steer you across the serene waters of the lake, where you will view the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, before your five-mile journey down the Mendenhall River. The speed of the water and level of the rapids can vary depending on the weather. Your highly trained guide will ensure you have a safe and exhilarating rafting experience. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride in our custom-made rafts, and be sure to hang on during the short section of rapids. Don’t forget to smile for the photographer along the riverbank so you will have a memento of your adventure. Want to be more active and involved? Ask for a paddle raft, where you will follow your guide's commands and power your raft through the 1-mile stretch of class III rapids. Whatever your preferred activity level, we can accommodate you. As your guide explains the natural phenomena at work in this scenic valley, you will marvel at the spectacular vistas of the towering peaks and the Mendenhall glacier as you float downstream. Be on the lookout for wildlife like arctic terns nesting on the shoreline, eagles, salmon, and sometimes, even bears. At the end of your journey, head ashore and enjoy an Alaskan snack, a warm beverage and an opportunity to purchase a photo or souvenir of your rafting experience. We had a fantastic time! Mendenhall Glacier was beautiful, and the float was peaceful and scenic. There was very little white water (at least the day that we went). Dalton was a fantastic guide. It was a wonderful opportunity to see a bit of Juneau away from the crowds in port.
We had an amazing experience at Mendenhall River! Our guide, Cierra, was engaging, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She shared so much interesting information throughout the tour and kept the group entertained the entire time. She was also impressively strong and handled everything with confidence and professionalism. The tour was well organized, fun, and truly memorable. Highly recommend this excursion and be sure to ask for Cierra if you can!
This was a great time floating down the river and taking in the scenery while the guide did all the paddling. The only thing that would have been better is to have gotten closer to the glacier—we could only see it from a distance.
Fun float trip. Michael “Tuna” Rich, was a fun and informative guide. He handled the float with expertise. They provided waterproof bib overalls, jacket, boots, and life vest. Great ground crew at the start and end of the trip. Dress warm.
Excellent excursion! Our guide Tuna was incredible and very personable. The rafting is down a river and great fun. You'll see the glacier at the start, but the rafting trip goes the opposite way. Would certainly go again!

My kids and I did the Mendenhall river rafting and had a blast. It’s a fun activity for all ages; rapids were fun and not scary. Our guide was Dalton and he was great. Very knowledgeable, he was able to navigate the raft with ease and added some fun moves to keep us on our toes. Give Dalton a raise he was the best!
A family friendly activity in a beautiful setting. Our guide, Chris , was absolutely fabulous. We would recommend taking this river floating to everybody, who visits Juneau.
