Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Description
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE a hike.

Courtland and Sophie are the most fantastic guides for this amazing experience. Do not miss out on this unbelievable opportunity to get this close to the glacier! I was initially nervous about canoeing - but Courtland and Sophie made it so amazing! The views are top notch, the guides are incredible - do not miss this experience!
We had a fantastic day kayaking to Mendenhall Glacier. Our guide, Hannah was very knowledgeable and fun. It was exhilarating getting so close to the glacier and waterfall!
Brady was a fantastic guide on our tour! He was fun and knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Alaska and Mendenhall Glacier.
Excellent experience! Our guide Hannah was wonderful- she offered a very professional experience while being warm and providing comedic relief as well. The company provides all the gear you need (including rain gear, rain boots, and waterproof gloves) and all of the gear was clean and excellent quality. The paddle was strenuous enough to feel like you accomplished something but not so hard that it wasn’t fun. The scenery of course was stunning and seeing the glacier was very special. Highly recommend!
Joe and Hannah were our guides, and they were absolutely fantastic! We had a group of 14 people, and they made the entire experience fun, organized, and memorable. We were visiting on a cruise and booked this tour independently rather than through the cruise line, and it was worth every penny. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an amazing experience!
Great experience start to finish. Elymus was our guide and made the excursion exceptional. He has lots of wild life knowledge too which was a plus.
An amazing experience! Our enthusiastic and encouraging guide, Sophie (thanks Sophie!), was informative about the Juneau area, as well as thorough in her instruction. She also had emergency and cold water rescue training so we felt in good hands. Rain pants, rain jacket, waterproof boots and life jacket provided. Our canoe had 8 adults plus our guide for this 4-hour trip. We had a cloudy/drizzly morning with little wind which was perfect for paddling and viewing the glacier up close. Also a great view of Nugget Falls from the lake! Water and snacks provided in individual dry bags, and then warm Mendenhall Mocha afterward (coffee/hot chocolate). Very fun and refreshing way to enjoy Mendenhall Glacier away from the crowds! And these 60+ year olds were not too sore the next day either. Many canoe paddles make light(er) work!!
We had a great time with our family. The views are stunning and Hannah did a great job, her sense of humor kept us rowing all the way to the glacier and back! Highly recommended!!
Was an amazing experience and the Guide was happy
This was a great excursion made all that much more enjoyable by our guide TOR. She shared much information about the glacier, environment, history and even a few much appreciated "Dad jokes". She kept track of all the guests' conditions and attitudes while in the shuttle and aboard the canoe. I'd highly recommend her as an adventure guide, and would choose an activity because of her. Seriously, she was good. As for the canoe excursion itself, it was a very welcome chance to depart the artificial environment aboard our cruise ship. The canoes sat two paddlers beside each other on each seat. This width made them very wide & stable. The rain jacket, pants, and rubber boots provided kept us plenty warm and dry despite heavy rain and a moderate breeze. The hot chocolate, coffee, or mocha provided at the conclusion of our trip drove off any chill once the paddling stopped. This was, indeed, the highlight of my AK cruise.
