We loved Elisha and Brady

We were not on a cruise ship. We had one day before our land adventure & were able to book this tour. Elisha & Brady were both excellent guides. They had much information on the glacier and surrounding areas. They also had a bit of humor added and were just a joy to chat with. I was the oldest on this tour and was greatly encouraged throughout and was treated with patience and respect. Five stars for Elisha and Brady. You’re the best!

Wonderful paddling and hiking trip

Took a wonderful paddling and hiking trip to Mendenhall glacier with Cortland and Brady. Pick up went smoothly despite the rainy weather. Rain jacket, rain pants, gloves, boots and life jacket all provided for. They gave routine paddling breaks to give our arms a break. Cortland’s “dad jokes” kept the mood light. Hiking through the “desolation zone” to Mendenhall glacier was other worldly. After a hot chocolate to celebrate our excursion, we were taken back to the cruise ship with plenty of time to spare.

A One-of-a-Kind Excursion!

This excursion is definitely worth it. You get to canoe across Mendenhall Lake, past Nugget Falls, to get an up-close view of the glacier. We absolutely loved our guides Elymus and Sophie! They are extremely knowledgable about the history and surrounding area of the glacier, and were a good muscle help when it came to rowing. They even made us hot chocolate and tea when we got back to shore. I definitely learned and physically accomplished more on this excursion than any other on our Alaskan trip. It does take some effort to get across the lake, but it's so rewarding when you get to the glacier. The team really looks out for your safety the entire trip and gives you lots of breaks when paddling. They also supply water bottles and some snacks, as well as water-protective gear. I would absolutely recommend this to any adventurers looking for an Alaskan thrill!

Drop the Mendenhall Mocha Recipe

This excursion was an absolute 10/10 and easily one of the highlights of our trip. It felt like stepping into the pages of a National Geographic magazine. We spent about an hour paddling by canoe to the glacier, hiked for around 30 minutes to get even closer, and then made the hour long paddle back. We even got to get up close to Nugget Falls! Cortland was an absolute GOAT of a guide, and Hannah was an incredible captain who navigated the canoe through the wind like a pro. Afterward, they offered hot chocolate, coffee, apple cider, or their Mendenhall Mocha (AKA half coffee/half hot chocolate). My family is still talking about that mocha. It was the perfect way to warm up after an unforgettable adventure. I couldn’t recommend this experience more.

Great guides make for a great tour!

Our guide Mike was very passionate about the nature he was showing us. Our guide Elisha kept us motivated and synchronized as we paddled across the lake. They had great banter and chemistry too. Fair warning, make sure you're ready for a core workout rowing a few miles with a large group in a large canoe! The hiking was fairly straightforward though a tiny bit slippery and they give us all the gear we needed. We felt safe the entire time.

Great value for lifelong memories

Just did a canoe tour with Tor and Elymus and it was awesome! It was pretty physically demanding, but totally worth it — the scenery and experience were incredible. They’re both super friendly with great personalities and kept us laughing with their jokes. On top of that, they’re incredibly knowledgeable about the glacier, the area, and all the wildlife. Learned a ton from them. Highly recommend!

Highly Recommended Canoe Tour with Tor and Elymus! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just got back from an amazing canoe tour with Tor and Elymus and I have to say, it was fantastic! The trip was pretty physically challenging — we were paddling hard — but incredibly rewarding. Every bit of effort was worth it once you’re out there surrounded by those incredible views. These two were awesome. They both have such great personalities and made the whole group feel comfortable right away. They’re hilarious too — kept us laughing with their jokes the entire time. But what really blew me away was how knowledgeable they are. They knew everything about the glacier, the surrounding area, the wildlife… you name it. We learned so much! My favorite part by far was when they taught us the two different porcupine calls. I still can’t believe there are two — that was so cool and something I’ll definitely remember! If you’re thinking about doing this tour, definitely go for it. Tor and Elymus made it one of the best experiences we’ve had. Highly recommend! Oh and thank you for the fantastic photos Tor.
