London's Jewish East-End.

Description
The tour begins with the backdrop of the 15th c Guildhall and the magnificent Wren designed church of St Lawrence Jewry; we discover that we are in London's Jewish ghetto The tour plots the route of Jewish people’s arrival in Britain from medieval times through to the vibrant street scene of Brick Lane. Along the way, you will find out about the persecution and expulsion of Jewish people under King Edward I and the later readmission under Oliver Cromwell. We will follow the path of the Eastern European Jews escaping from the pogroms of the 1800’s and their integration into British society and culture. We also encounter the horrors of the holocaust and the stories of ingenuity and sacrifice behind the Kindertransport memorial. We will celebrate the Battle of Cable Street of 1936 when the local community stood shoulder to shoulder to prevent the fascist movement from marching through the Jewish East End. We will visit London’s oldest synagogues and stroll down Petticoat lane.

Wonderful tour made fabulous by David. We could not possibly have had a better tour guide. We obtained an insightful understanding of the Jewish history in London as a result of David’s research and personal experiences during his life in London. Highly recommended.
A very different itinerary that a tourist would otherwise never see. Not only Jewish London but other unique places as well
Hi Martin, Thank you for your amazing review and feedback. So pleased you enjoyed the tour. Warmest regards, David
David (tour guide) was wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable and informative. Made many interesting stops and even provided snacks.
Hi Sandy, Thank you for the amazing feedback and review. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the tour and some of the hidden gems of London. Warmest Regards, David
David was a great guide and a very friendly and professional driver. We got everything we expected in this tour and a couple of bonus sites (Jack the Ripper and Harry Potter). Some of the scheduled places were quite moving and others wete very enlightening.
Hi Ronald, I'm so pleased that you both enjoyed the tour, and thank you for your amazing review and feedback. Warmest regards, David
I know the tour is going to be good when the tour guide arrives early. David came early and greeted us with a smile. What a delight to see London and the East End from the back of a London Taxi with a real life Jewish Taxi Driver. He was professional, friendly, informative and accommodating. It was just my wife and he made a couple of adjustments to accommodate our time needs and where we needed to be after the tour. London has a long Jewish history and we experienced part of it with David from the back of his taxi. Be forewarned though that some of what you will experience is being in the neighborhood of what was there. The real Jewish presence has moved away from the East End. For those of you that have traveled to the Lower East Side in NYC - very reminiscent of traveling on Orchard Street. David does other tours and when we come back we will definitely avail ourselves of his other tours.
Hi Jefferey, Thank you for your amazing feedback and review. I’m looking forward to meeting up with you and Michelle on your next tour. Warmest regards, David.
