waste of time and money

emails from tour operator gave three different times to meet with tour guide at fountain at Russell Square prior to entry to museum. Tour guide wasn't at Russell square. I complained to customer service, they sent me passcode for audio guide, but it didn't play, it just kept asking me to sign in. Complete waste of time and money. No refund offered, despite my being at the muster point at 9:45 am as stated in the email from company. I do not recommend this guided tour!!!

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are very sorry to hear about the confusion regarding the meeting time and location, as well as the issues you encountered with the audio guide. We understand how frustrating it must have been to arrive at the designated meeting point only to be unable to participate in the experience as expected. Providing clear instructions and reliable service is extremely important to us, and we regret that we fell short on this occasion. Your feedback regarding the conflicting communications and technical difficulties has been noted and will be reviewed with our team to help prevent similar situations in the future. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and sincerely apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience caused. Many thanks, VoxCity

Terrible communication re: meeting point

That was no indication anywhere on the ticket or email as to where to meet. I failed to find the group for the 11:45 meeting. Unfortunately, at 12:00 pm, after much searching my previous correspondence, I found that the meeting place was not at the British Museum, which is where to tour was. I completely missed the tour-very poor communication regarding how to attend

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you missed the tour and understand how disappointing and frustrating this must have been. While the meeting point information is included on the voucher provided after booking, we sincerely apologize that it was not clear or visible enough in your communications. We appreciate that, when visiting a major attraction such as the British Museum, it can be easy to assume that the meeting point would be located directly at the museum itself. Your comments regarding the clarity of our instructions are valuable and will be shared with our team as we continue to improve our pre-tour communications and make meeting point details easier to find. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we are sorry for the inconvenience this caused. Kind regards, VoxCity

Misleading information

First of all—I highly recommend that you don’t purchase this “tour”. The description says that it is a guided tour and that headsets are included. But the museum is free and they have their own audio tour for a fraction of the cost of the tour from Vox/Trip Advisor. So basically you are paying a third party company triple for a nonexistent tour. You have to download an app on your mobile device and bring your own earbuds. I’m super disappointed in this company. I’ve been using them for years and never experienced this kind of poor service.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. As clearly stated in the product description on Viator, headsets are only provided for the guided tour option. For the “Priority Entry & Audio Tour” option, the audio guide is delivered digitally and must be downloaded on the customer’s mobile device, in which case no headset is included, and guests are expected to use their own earphones. We understand your disappointment and regret any misunderstanding this may have caused. Our aim is always to provide clear information and a smooth experience for all our guests. Thank you for sharing your comments. VoxCity

British Museum in the rain.

It is practically almost useless, as in an hour the quite capable guide gives a brief description of the Museum and 4-5 works!

Operator response

Cordiali saluti, VoxCity

GET THIS TOUR, especially with a guide like Joey.

The British Museum is blow-your-socks-off huge. For the first few times that you visit there are far too many exhibits to spend appreciable time examining each one even if you are an expert in the subjects of a particular gallery. You'll get tired and a headache and you will miss out on the appreciation and enjoyment of all these WONDERFUL artifacts. For any non-expert the information on an exhibit placard usually doesn't tell the full story. You might walk by something attributed to Amenhotep IV and shrug that he's just some guy. You will walk by a Roman vase without realizing its chromatic qualities or the back story of an accident. You need a guide like Joey to bring you to the most significant exhibits in a gallery and relate the full story about them in a sympathetic manner for new visitors, or even wannabe archaeologists.
