Itinerary

60 min

Get comfortable in an air-conditioned vehicle as you start your journey toward the town of Fátima, a once-sleepy rural village that became an important pilgrimage site when three shepherd children reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1917. Visit the Sanctuary of Fatima, a basilica that honors the apparition and attracts millions of Catholic pilgrims every year who go to pay their respects to the shrine

120 min

Take a short break for lunch (own expense) in Nazaré, a quaint fishing town famous for its variety of restaurants and cafes. A popular summer retreat for the Portuguese, the village offers an interesting insight into local life. Short stop at the Nazaré cliffs to see the ocean views.

60 min

Finally, make your way to the medieval village of Óbidos. Founded in 208 BC, Óbidos is commonly known in Portugal as the 'wedding present town', as it was a gift from King Dinis to Queen Isabel on their wedding day in 1282. Follow your guide to one of the numerous wine shops and sample the Ginja liqueur, and then enjoy free time to explore the village’s medieval fortress, narrow streets, colorful houses and Gothic doorways and windows decorated with flowerpots and dazzling tiles. Grab a snack or browse around the tiny shops that offer a varied collection of beautiful handmade ceramic art before making your way back to Lisbon.

Something’s fishy here…

Mostly a good trip…our driver was very knowledgeable about the area and talked at length about the architecture and the history of the area. He was a very good driver, but we might have been more comfortable if he hadn’t been googling info on his phone while driving several times. The biggest downside was lunch—we stopped in an unappealing section of Nazaré where our guide said his company recommended. The restaurant, Restaurante Taberna do Pouca Rouda, was diner style, no ambience. The fish was very good—a whole fish grilled simply, no seasoning or sauce, with boiled potatoes and cabbage. The driver ordered for us so—my bad—I wasn’t focused on the menu prices. Very fresh fish but 98 euros for three servings of fish with no drinks, no sides and no dessert seemed like a tourist gouge—I can’t see locals paying this much for this little. This tainted the trip for us. Fatima is beautiful, and Nazare and Obidos are interesting enough for brief stops. Total driving time is 3 1/2-4 hours in the van, and the scenery is not very interesting—mostly industrial and agricultural. Overall it’s a long day. I would recommend the tour company rethink the recommended restaurant—not cool to overcharge us just because we’re not from the area. If you take the tour ask for a different restaurant in a better area of town.

Operator response

Dear Mark, Thanks for your review. We are still a "young company" with around 30 reviews, 29 of 5* and one of 4* but with very nice words - "just the teacher that does not give the maximum mark". So 3* is for us a debut. :-) Nevertheless, our aim is to provide our clients with the best of the experiences, as such we will do our best to correct and improve. Thanks again for your comment : we understand our guests reviews as strategic for our growth. Best Regards,

Wonderful Tour!

Wonderful day tour. Our tour guide Luis shared the history of each site, picked the best restaurant in Nazare’ and showed us the best views and photo opportunities in each town. We had some rain and fog but Luís shared umbrellas and picked us up at the entrance of each site so we stayed dry. He was an excellent tour guide! Fatima and Obidos are “must see” sites if you are visiting Lisbon. Highly recommend!

A fantastic tour!!

A great tour experience with our Tour guide Luis. Fantastic guy with emphasis on making our tour relaxed and informative. We were a small group of 4 which made for a more intimate tour. Luis was knowledgeable and taken us to all of the spots in a comfortable mini van. . Highlight was Nazare. The look over the beach and town . It was beautiful although no major waves this time of year . Óbidos was a great stop with a beautiful old town inside a castle wall. We were there around 4:00pm and not crowed so had a great visit. I would differently recommend “BLACK CROW TOURS” and hopefully get Luis as your guide. He was fantastic!!

Great tour to remember

An Amazing Tour. I am glad we did the small group as we had a little more time to appreciate the beautiful and sacred place of Fatima, and Nazare and Obiedos as well. Perhaps next time need a little more time for each place., 1 day for each place, there are a lot to see. Our Tour guide was great! Amazing: Luis A
