Itinerary

Pass by

Castel Sant'Angelo, also known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian, is a historic fortress in Rome along the Tiber River. Originally built as a tomb for Emperor Hadrian around 139 AD, it later served as a papal residence, fortress, and prison. Today, it's a museum offering panoramic views of the city and fascinating insights into its layered history. Its unique cylindrical structure and Renaissance-era frescoes make it a must-see landmark blending ancient Roman architecture with medieval and Renaissance additions.

Pass by

Ponte Sant'Angelo, originally known as the Aelian Bridge, is a historic Roman bridge built by Emperor Hadrian in 134 AD to connect the city center to his mausoleum, now Castel Sant'Angelo. Adorned with ten magnificent angel statues designed by Bernini and his pupils, the bridge is a masterpiece of Baroque art, symbolizing the path to spiritual ascent. Overlooking the Tiber River with views of St. Peter's Basilica, Ponte Sant'Angelo is both a passageway and an iconic monument, embodying the beauty and spiritual heritage of Rome.

Pass by

The view of St. Peter's Basilica from Lungotevere is breathtaking, showcasing the grandeur of Rome's skyline. Framed by the Tiber River and lush trees along the riverbank, the dome of St. Peter’s rises majestically, a symbol of the city’s spiritual and architectural heritage. This perspective captures the harmony of nature, history, and timeless Roman elegance.

Pass by

Ponte Sisto is a picturesque Renaissance bridge connecting Rome's historic center with the lively Trastevere district. Built in the 15th century under Pope Sixtus IV, this elegant bridge features four symmetrical arches and offers stunning views of the Tiber River and Rome’s skyline. Especially enchanting at sunset, Ponte Sisto is a favorite spot for both locals and visitors, linking rich history with the vibrant energy of modern-day Rome.

Pass by

"Il Palazzaccio," formally known as the Palazzo di Giustizia, is Rome's grand courthouse located in the Prati district near the Tiber River. Completed in 1911, its imposing structure and ornate Neo-Baroque architecture stand out, featuring intricate sculptures, grand staircases, and a large central courtyard. Nicknamed "Palazzaccio" (meaning "ugly palace") due to its massive scale and style, it remains a significant symbol of Italy's judicial system and a striking landmark blending historical gravitas with architectural splendor.

Pass by

Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II is an elegant bridge in Rome that spans the Tiber River, connecting the historic center to the Vatican area. Built between 1886 and 1911 to honor Italy's first king, Vittorio Emanuele II, the bridge showcases three majestic arches adorned with detailed sculptures and allegorical statues symbolizing Unity, Freedom, and Rome’s historic legacy. With beautiful views of St. Peter’s Basilica and Castel Sant’Angelo, it offers a classic Roman experience, blending monumental design with a scenic urban landscape.

Pass by

The Tiber Island, or Isola Tiberina, is a small, charming island in the Tiber River, right in the heart of Rome. Rich in history, it has long been associated with healing due to the presence of an ancient temple of Aesculapius, the god of medicine. Today, it hosts the historic Fatebenefratelli Hospital and the Church of San Bartolomeo all'Isola. The island is connected to the city by two ancient bridges, Ponte Fabricio and Ponte Cestio, and is known for its unique shape and tranquil atmosphere, making it a peaceful escape within the bustling city.

Pass by

Ponte Cavour is a refined, understated bridge in Rome connecting the city center with the elegant Prati district. Constructed between 1896 and 1901, it was named in honor of the Italian statesman Camillo Benso di Cavour, a leading figure in Italy's unification. With its five clean arches and minimalist design, the bridge provides a beautiful view of the Tiber River and surrounding landmarks. Known for its simple elegance, Ponte Cavour offers a quieter yet scenic route through Rome, harmonizing with the city’s timeless architecture.

Need some improvement

The boat ride was decent and the views along the route were enjoyable. Staff were polite and the ride itself was fairly smooth, but the overall experience felt a bit too crowded and rushed. Some better organization and clearer communication would improve the trip. Overall, it was an average experience with a few good moments.

Be wise and do it.

This for me was the highlight of our trip to Rome. I did book this for our wedding anniversary and I was not disappointed. “Stradiveria” the beautiful boat, was mastered by a river king. Why? the river is still full of antiquities and at this time was only around 5m deep and the river must be negotiated so as not to damage them, our skipper knew his business well. The guide Lucia “what a darling” perfect English she was tentative what a warm lady. If you do not book this, you are missing out on seeing Rome. Will return and book again without a doubt. Be wise and do it.

A Truly One-of-a-Kind Roman Experience

If you want to feel like a celebrity gliding through Rome, this is it. Our “La Dolce Vita: Private Luxury Boat Ride in the Eternal City” with Experience River was an unforgettable way to start our trip. Cruising down a quiet, nearly empty Tiber in one of the most beautiful boats I’ve ever seen is something special—but realizing you have this experience almost entirely to yourself takes it to another level. Our host was fantastic—warm, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout. She shared great insights along the way, adding context to the scenery without ever taking away from the peacefulness of the ride. One thing that makes this even more unique is how rare it is. Not many captains have access to the Tiber due to the historical antiquities along the riverbed, which Rome carefully preserves. That alone makes the experience feel exclusive. The entire ride was comfortable, relaxing, and quietly awe-inspiring. Seeing Rome from this perspective is something you simply can’t replicate any other way. I couldn’t recommend this more highly—it’s a perfect, memorable way to begin a Roman holiday.

Operator response

Thank you for such a wonderful and thoughtful review. Reading your words truly means a lot to all of us. We are delighted to know that your La Dolce Vita private cruise aboard Stradivaria became such a special beginning to your time in Rome. Experiencing the Eternal City from the water, in complete privacy, surrounded by silence and history, is exactly the feeling we hope every guest can enjoy — that rare sensation of having Rome almost entirely to yourself. Your kind mention of our hostess makes us especially happy. We always try to offer not only a beautiful boat, but also a warm and genuine welcome, with just the right balance between storytelling and the peaceful atmosphere of the river. You are absolutely right: navigation in the historic center of the Tiber is very limited, and this makes the experience even more unique. Being able to glide through this part of Rome on board a classic wooden boat like Stradivaria is something truly rare, and we are proud to share it with our guests. Thank you again for choosing us to start your Roman holiday. We hope to welcome you back on board one day for another unforgettable cruise. Warm regards, Stradivaria Team
