Kyoto Chopsticks Making Workshop

Description
This workshop is unique because it lets you hand-craft your own wooden chopsticks in Kyoto’s historic Gion district, guided by a local artisan using traditional tools. Instead of simply watching a demonstration, you experience the full process yourself—choosing the wood, shaping it by hand, and finishing it into a practical, personal keepsake rooted in everyday Japanese culture.

We had such a great time, we went back a second time. We were lucky to have Tracy as our instructor again. She is so encouraging and positive. We were able to complete our second sets of chopsticks in record time. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The woods available are so pretty. It's a great experience and a great souvenir from our trip to Kyoto.
This was such a fun and inexpensive activity. Our instructor and Tracy was great. She helped our group of five complete our chopsticks. She was able to help each of us individually. The class offers a variety of woods as well as engraving. The class is just an hour and you have a complete product at the end. We highly recommend this class.
Our Sensei Christ accompanied us during the making of the chopsticks. Exceptional activity, easy and memorable! He conveys the values of Japan through the chopsticks.
Really loved this experience as did my kids. Really informative and friendly group. Great end product to take home too
Perfect experience! Our host Julia was very kind and a great host 😊.
Lots of fun, great way to have your own personalized chopsticks! My arms are a bit tired but I loved doing this! Sai was our assistant and he was very helpful.
We enjoyed this activity a lot! Our family of 4 has 2 adults ages 45 and 49 + a 19 year old + a 9 year old. The activity is easy enough for all ages but still interesting. Gion is a very cool area to visit and we were happy this activity brought us there. Optional upcharges for different chopstick wood types (more durable) and engraving. Kind employees and instructors.
We had Leyla as our instructor, she was amazing! We got to do a fun adventure and have a nice souvenir.
