Itinerary
The tour begins with an 8:00 AM pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi. From there, you'll be driven along Ngong Road to the Kibera DO Headquarters, where the adventure starts with a 3-kilometer walk along the main Kibera slum road. Your first stop is Soweto Village, where you'll visit local homesteads. Next, you'll head to the Curio Workshop, where you'll marvel at the creativity of artisans crafting ornaments from animal bones. As you continue, you'll visit nursery schools, observe the daily lives of slum dwellers, and pass by a water vendor and shower shop. The route takes you past roadside fishmongers to the Biogas Plant, an innovative project that uses human waste to produce cooking gas and electricity for approximately 200 households once fully operational. Your journey concludes with a visit to a community-based school supported by donations. Afterward, you’ll be guided back to your vehicle and dropped off at your hotel or home in Nairobi.
