Horrible Experience

Once we arrived at the boarding check in area, we were told we could upgrade to a more "exclusive experience" for $49 per person. There were 10 of us, so that added an unexpected $490 to the cost. They also charged us a $25 per person documentation fee, totaling another $250. Later, we found out the actual fee was only 15 pesos, which is less than $1 USD per person. We were told we would be taken to Playa Norte, but it was not the real Playa Norte. We have visited Isla Mujeres many times and knew immediately it was not the same location. We were only allowed to stay there for about an hour before being taken to their "Beach Club." The Beach Club was extremely disappointing. The food was poor, the water was nowhere near as beautiful as Playa Norte, and we were essentially stuck there for 3.5 hours with nothing to do. To make matters worse, while sitting at the back of the boat, we watched the staff collect used drink cups from passengers, immediately refill them without washing or rinsing them, and hand them to other guests. This was completely unsanitary and unacceptable. Overall, it was a terrible experience. We ended up paying more than $800 above the original cost and felt misled throughout the entire excursion. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.

Beautiful island, and great snorkeling.

An amazing day trip to a paradise island. The added bonus of a golf cart trip to see more than just the beach was a real bonus. The boat crew were really attentive making sure everyone felt well, safe and hydrated. Drinks and snack included in the package made it stressful. The lunch on the beach was lovely and I snorkeling for the first time ever. So easy and the fish etc were fabulous. Those on the boat saw turtles. This was a truly awesome day.

Excessive dock usage fee

EXCESSIVE DOCK FEE CHARGES; the tour cost me approximately 700 pesos per person, but upon arriving at Marina Albatros, they informed me that there is a dock tax, which they charged me $850 per person. My partner and I had to pay $1700 in taxes. I found the tax to be very excessive, as I had researched the official prices, which do not exceed $400 per person. I will proceed with La PROFECO; BE CAREFUL, THEY WILL SCAM YOU JUST LIKE THEY DID TO ME AT MARINA ALBATROS.

Terrible avoid at all costs

“Boat Trip” (Generous Use of the Term) When I booked a “boat trip,” I was expecting… well, a boat trip. What I got was something closer to a slow, inconvenient water taxi. The snorkeling stop was particularly memorable for all the wrong reasons. I’ve snorkelled all over the world, and this was comfortably the worst. No organisation, no guidance, and at one point we genuinely had no idea where the boat even was. Always reassuring when you’re floating in open water. Drinks were technically “included,” although the advertised open bar turned out to be a shared pitcher of beer nothing quite says luxury like getting beer slopped all over you. Arriving at the island didn’t improve things we were promised crystal clear water and no seaweeed the reality was murky churned up water full of seaweed. It was massively overcrowded no sunbeds, nowhere to sit, and nowhere to eat the food, which is… generously described as poorly prepared. Plates were washed on demand (you waited), and cutlery appeared to be a limited-edition item (you waited longer). Beach drinks followed a similar system: cups ran out, so staff had to collect used ones, hand wash them, and then reuse them. Efficient, if you enjoy watching your refreshment pipeline depend on a rinse cycle. We then spent over three hours on the island far too long to essentially stand around doing nothing. When it was finally time to leave, we were put on the wrong boat, which made us feel like accidental stowaways. Slightly embarrassing, especially when it became clear we weren’t supposed to be there. Back in downtown, things somehow declined further overcrowded, overpriced, and another hour of sitting around wondering why we hadn’t just gone elsewhere. To round things off, on the way back to the harbour, the crew requested tips clarifying they were “sailors, not waiting staff.” This was surprising, as nothing during the day suggested any real sailing had taken place. Standing around appeared to be the core competency. All in all, easily the worst “boat trip” I’ve ever experienced and I’ve been on quite a few. I’d have been better off taking an actual taxi and jumping in the sea at random points. Avoid at all cost.

Hi Chrison, I´m reading your comment and is unusual to read this, as per I can see you book the platinum which is the best boats, deluxe lagoons, I dont know which boat you describe, the snorkel activity all the tours to Isla Mujeres has the same (somethimes it can be crowded) I understand youre upset because it was a lot of people, but is the holy week, is a lot of people at the island at this time, I´m sorry about it.

Poorly organized. Horrible hotel transfer.

Whole excursion was poorly organized. The boat crew was great but everything on the island and before and after was chaos. Started with a late pick up, needing to buy special sunscreen. Once on the island the guides didn't want to get their own golf carts so they rode with our family in our 2 carts. No exactly what we had planned. Dropping us off in the middle of the shopping areas sucked. We wanted to go to the north beach and they didn't have any thing is that area designated for us. That's the best part of Isla or at least it used to be. The beach club was ok. They ran out of mediocre food since we went on the golf cart tour. Pickup times and location were not clearly communicated. Surprised no one got left behind. Return trip waited 45 minutes in the van for other ships to return. Left and ended up circling back to pick up more. 2 hours wasted after a very long day. Everyone just want to get back to their hotels. The long ride home meant missed reservations and plans. Can't say I'd recommend ships outfit

Catamaran Trip - False Advertising

We took the catamaran tour to Isla Mujeres on February 7, 2026. The tour was offered by the tour agency at the Krystal Graqnd in Cancun. The brochure advertised as sailing to and from the island, snorkelling on the way there off the boat, visit south and north beach, buffet lunch and open bars. When we got to the dock we were assigned to a boat and advised to use only organic sunscreen with no chemicals to avoid pollution when snorkeling. We purchased this for 650 mx. An hour later later when we were on the boat and had left the harbour we were told that we could NOT snorkel or swim off the boat because we both were over 59 years old. So why did we get pushed to buy that sunscreen that doesn't damage the water environment when we could not go in the water. Also there was no sailing on Amazon II. We motored both ways despite 14 other cats putting up their sails. Total costs to us was around 120 US$ x 2 plus the sunscreen at 650 MX. The sunscreen had to be disposed of as the bottle was over 100 ml and could not be taken on the airplane home. At the end of the trip I wrote out a comment about our concerns and passed it to the tour operator on the boat but have not heard anything back. We also advised our hotel travel agency at the Krystal Grand and they apparently have contacted Albatros but again there has been no response. There is nothing on the brochure that indicates an age limitation. We feel cheated through this false advertising . We advised Albatros of all this and the reswponse was that the tour company should have advised us of the age restriction as its on the albatros disclaimer ( fine print) and the boat we were on does no normally have sails ( even tho we saw them, maybe they are just for show).

Good day, I´m really sorry for this situation, but the person who gives you the information don´t give it at all, the first thing, sailing is too navigation, if the sails don´t works or the is too windy we navigate to the island, probably you think is all whit sails but is not right, secondly, the age is very important to say this when you reserve, I´m really sorry for your situation but they don´t give you the right informaiton.

Disorganized, Dishonest, and a Total Waste of Time

I would never use this company again. Our day was ruined by incompetence and dishonesty. The Boat: Check-in was too long, and the boat was overbooked with limited seating. Snorkeling was a joke—too short, overcrowded, and very little to see. The Island: A staff member named Frankie promised us a golf cart for the same price as the tour so we could explore solo. He made us wait for over an hour, only to tell us none were available. This was a lie; we could see plenty of carts. By then, it was too late to rent one ourselves. We felt like hostages on the beach. The Return: Despite it being in our package, they didn't have us on the return van list. After a supervisor finally let us board with our friends, they forced us to get off the van while already seated just to move us to another one. Completely unprofessional and frustrating. Save your money and take the ferry instead.
