Imperial War Museum and Churchill War Rooms

Description
Guides with vocational qualifications, postgraduate degrees and published literature on the subject, as well as years of experience in guiding the sites, get to the heart of what matters at these locations. While knowledge certainly matters, the delivery of information in a manner that leaves you with an understanding of a period, rather than a list of events, is crucial.

Itinerary
Our experienced guide will guide you round the IWM main site, which details the British experience in conflict since 1914, with particular focus on the two world wars. From there you will travel to the old Cabinet War Rooms.
The Churchill (or Cabinet) War Rooms housed the key tools and personnel of the British war administration between 1940 and 1945, under the leadership of Prime Minister Winston Churchill. We will look at his life and history, and explore some of the additional figures of the administration, such as the Chiefs of Staff and Churchill's principal military advisor, Hastings Ismay.

Our guide Sheldon was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable. Sheldon kept us engaged the entire tour with information and interesting facts.
It was great getting detailed information from a person rather than a device. We really enjoyed Andy’s approach to explaining history.
It was my first visit to the Imperial War Museum and its Churchill War Rooms section. So I was looking for a thorough overview of the history behind this place, and our guide provided exactly that.
Great to hear, thank you 😊
The tour guide, Andy was extremely knowledgeable and asked the group members for input on what they were mist interested in. He communicated beforehand to confirm time and meeting location and let us know what he was wearing.
Thank you for the kind words!
If you can request a guide by all means request ANDY! Andy’s knowledge of the events leading up to and including WWI were extensive and very interesting. The tour was so much better than just arriving and wearing a headset.
Thank you!
Our guide Stephen was fabulous- very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much at a good pace, with ample time for questions and discussion
Thanks for the kind words!
We had a great experience with Andy on this tour. Andy is very knowledgeable and passionate - we got so much more out of the museums with Andy than we would have haf we visited on our own.
Thanks Scott - great to take you around.
Down in basements do can be a little closed in Well worth the visit and most enjoyable and instructive
Thanks Lesley, lovely to meet you both and take you around.
It was one of the best air with tours we have experienced. Andy was amazing, he was y knowledgeable, interesting answer wed our questions.
Thank you for the kind words!
We had a couple of guides who were kind enough to admit that this was their first tour as a newly formed partnership - they were excellent. They both have embarrassingly robust credentials, and so there is almost nothing you can ask for which they will not have an answer. However, they both did a wonderful job of "keeping it simple" and understandable - cramming three decades and two world wars of history into a 3 hour tour is no small task. Nicely done.
Thank you for the kind words - a pleasure to take you round.
