Go early and get a van to go there and avoid having to park or get lost. Bring cash in case you want to buy food, or mementos.
Daniel is a great tour guide. Don't worry if your Spanish isn't the best, as he can communicate in English quite effectively. He showed us a beautiful cathedral and a number of fascinating museums in the historic district of Guadalajara. Daniel is very knowledgeable about the city and Mexico's history and culture. Whether you're brand new to the city or have been here a while, go on a tour with him—you will learn something new. I highly recommend him and look forward to another tour and learning about Mexico's charm and culture. He offers tours throughout the state of Jalisco, not just Guadalajara.
