A great photo tour with loads of history

My wife and I took the cemetery tour on an especially hot day in New Orleans with Tracy. She was very knowledgeable and we had a nice small group who didn’t seem to mind that we were there for the Photography as much as the history. Tracy hit the prominent highlights of the cemetery and sprinkled in some nice stories about vampires and the history of the area. Our particular Tour also featured three interns who added extra color to the commentary and were fun to be with. Two suggestions we have is that the Tour operator make sure there’s cold water for the guests on hot days. Also, that the specific meeting point be part of the booking instructions. We had taken an Uber to this very large cemetery and it was difficult to find the beginning point. All in, it was an enjoyable experience and recommend this one. We got some great photos and now know a little bit more about the cemetery, It’s inhabitants and life in New Orleans!

A walk in Metairie Cemetery

Today we went on a great 2 hour tour with Tracy from Save Our Cemeteries. Tracy made us feel comfortable before the tour even started and continued to keep us engaged throughout the entirety of the tour. We walked around a great part of Metairie Cemetery. Tracy showed us some very important figures in the cemetery and educated us on which tombs were which (Vaults, Mausoleum and Copings). Our tour consisted of 5 people and we traveled through the newer and older sides of the cemetery. We got to see tombs of all kinds and were educated on why certain ones were how they were, meaning why one tomb would be so big and why this tomb looks so different from the others. Tracy even used pictures to give tourists of the cemetery an easier view of what each person should be recognized for. In conclusion the tour was really worth while and hopefully if we ever need to go again we get to do it with Tracy.

Visiting the New Orleans past

We had a very informative - respectful - and insightful tour of Metairie cemetery this morning, led by Glen, our tour guide, who was just amazing!! I've always wanted to see the "Weeping Angel" - it is very important that we keep these monuments for future generations - please go visit and support - and learn!!

Fascinating

Glenn was, by far, one of the best tour guides I've ever had for any tour anywhere! The cemetery was diverse, beautiful, and Glenn's narrative was comprehensive and fascinating.

You really should do this tour!

We took the Metairie cemetery tour with our host, Glenn. He was very knowledgeable about the cemetery and the surrounding areas, and offered great insight into how cemeteries and burial works in New Orleans. There was a lot of walking, but there’s plenty of shade and some opportunities to sit down. Probably a good idea to bring water, as none is available during the tour. Plenty of famous people interred here, including author Anne Rice, which was a highlight of the tour. Overall, I’d say this is a must see if you’re at all interested in cemeteries or history.

Must-do experience!

Glenn was an amazing tour guide! He was funny, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. His passion was felt throughout the entire tour and he ensured we stayed in the shade the whole time. We learned so much about the history of New Orleans in such a short time. Thanks Glenn :)
