I’ve lived in New Orleans and have returned regularly with my family for over 50 years. We thought it might be fun to arrange for a tour to introduce the city to a friend who has never visited there before. We were wonderfully surprised at the neighborhoods, cemeteries and special place to eat that Glen introduced all of us to on his fact filled and engaging tour. Glen’s personality and knowledge of New Orleans history are delightful. And his support for a wheelchair dependent traveler only added to the value we received. You will be greeted by an exceptional person. And you will be dropped off after your tour by a friend.
Larry you are a patient and kind person who loves his wife. Y'all were an absolute joy to be with. I truly appreciate the kinds words and thank you for taking time to write those kind words. Your friend Glen.
My husband and I were looking for a private tour, as due to my mobility issues I am not able to keep up with group tours, so this was ideal for us. Before arriving in New Orleans, Glen and I exchanged emails to ensure that we would see as much as we could on our first visit to New Orleans. We opted for an extended tour as there was a lot to cover. Glen picked us up from our hotel in a very comfortable car which enabled us to experience it all at our own pace and he even provided a walker for me to use. We started with a stop at a viewpoint overlooking the Mississippi River so that Glen could give us an interesting background and history of NOLA with photos and maps. We then drove all over the city which his tour itinerary covered which included the French Quarter, Garden District, Cemetery No.3, City Park, Lake Pontehartrain, pumping stations and many more. Glen explained about Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath. We stopped for a quick lunch at a deli and were able to chat with Glen and learn more about New Orleans. We continued our tour with Glen telling us about the history, culture, and beautiful architecture as we passed by. I had previously asked Glen to take us to the Matairie Cemetery, famous for its stunning, ornate tombs. considered one of the most beautiful in the country. Glen kindly drove us around it, stopping for us to take photographs. By the end of the tour we had covered everything on my list and more! We had a great time and leanred so much. We can highly recommend Glen and this tour to those seeking an in depth and personal city tour with a terrific guide. Thank you, Glen, for sharing your knowledge and love of New Orleans. Carolyn, to say you were prepared would be an understatement. You knew what you wanted on advance and had some great questions along the way. Thank you for challenging me to get everything y'all wanted to see and hear about correct. Also, thank you for this detailed review. Detailed, that describes you. Really nice folks. Thank you!!
We had a great time touring New Orleans with Glen. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned a lot about the history of the area and saw an incredible amount of sites in our 5 hour tour. It was money well spent.
I sure enjoyed meeting y'all and spending the day with you. Truly appreciate the kind review. Thanks again!
Glen is a lovely guy who knows so much about the local area. We learnt such a lot and had a great tour
Enjoyed meeting you and really appreciate the positive review.
My friend and I booked a private tour with Glen over Christmas and it was hands down the best part of our New Orleans trip! Glen is the real deal - super knowledgeable about everything NOLA and has a great sense of humor that kept us laughing all day. We rode around in total comfort while he showed us all the cool neighborhoods and shared stories you won't find in guidebooks. He knew exactly when to stop for breaks - perfect timing for beignets (a must!) and a great lunch spot. Then we were right back on the road exploring more of the city. As a first-timer to New Orleans, I couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Glen made everything easy and fun, and we felt like we got the authentic local experience. If you're visiting NOLA, especially for the first time, book with Glen at Henley's Private Tours. You won't regret it.
Leisha, you and Tracy were so nice. I truly enjoyed meeting y'all. Thank you for taking the time to write such an incredible review! Blessings Glen
They should know that they are getting a very informational tour about new orleans and an inside look at the city and it's surroundings....Glen is a wealth of knowledge. Enjoyed the tour very much....
Dalene, i eally enjoyed meeting you and Dan. Thank you for the kind review. I wish everyone would know, like you said, the tour offers a wealth of information. Thank you for everything. Glen
We took the 5 hour private tour. What a great way to see New Orleans! Glen , our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and was enthusiastic about sharing his expertise. One could easily tell , Glen was passionate about New Orleans history and culture. We also had a member of our group that had mobility issues and Glen was very patient and kind.By the end of the tour we felt Glen was part of our family. Take a private tour, you won’t be sorry. Part of the Family? Does that mean I'm in your will? :) You guys were amazing. Danny and Sandy were the patient and kind. Incredible! Truly enjoyed meeting you all and sharing this unique and beautiful city with you. Roger is sharp, except for the fence around cemetery question. :) Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to write this great review. Glen
I got what I was looking for with this tour, and MORE! I've been to NOLA numerous times already, but didn't see much outside the Quarter, the usual tourist spots. When I visit a city, I like to get a private tour from a local and get a picture of the town as a whole, off the beaten tourist path, what the city looks like to someone who grew up there. Glenn's tour was outstanding; he starts out taking you to the 11th floor of a hotel where you can look up and down the river and up Canal Street for miles. He gives a well-rehearsed summary of the history, geography, shipping and barge traffic, with maps and lots of details. Driving around, we saw several neighborhoods I'd heard of but never visited: Bayou St. John, Uptown, Irish Channel, the Warehouses, the cemeteries, Lake Pontchatrain, and more. Vehicle was very comfortable with lots of space. Besides being so knowledgeable, Glenn is very congenial, funny, and always concerned to meet the traveler's expectations. I love that NOLA accent and Glenn does a really good Cajun as well. Need I say I highly recommend this tour to those seeking to expand their experience of the Big Easy.
Excellent description of the tour. Very nice of you to leave such an outstanding and well written review. Thank you very much! Glen
The tour was outstanding! It was very comfortable and a wonderful way to learn so much about New Orleans and the surrounding areas: The best tour I have been on in years.
I sure did enjoy meeting you and Jan. Thank you for the great review. Glen
Our family of 6 had an awesome time with Mr. Glenn from Henley's tours. From the booking to his follow up thanks after the tour was completed, he was so gracious, professional, pleasant and easy to work with. The vehicle eas clean and comfortable. His tour was a spectacular overview of the entire city of NOLA. He gave an interesting background and history lesson that made the past come alive and he showed us neat things all over the city. We literally saw it all in 5 hours...from the WWII Museum (including background on how NOLA became the host of such a prominent museum), Garden District, Mansions, Port, Central Business District, French Quarter, Universities, City Park, Lake Pontchartrain, inside a beautiful cemetery, pumping stations and explanations about Hurricane Katrina and aftermath, the marina. Carrollton, to a delicious lunch spot and bringing bread for us to feed the birds in City Park and more. Everything was top notch. He gave interesting and easy to understand talks about Cajuns and Creoles and local culture. We spent a full week enjoying all that New Orleans and the surrounding area has to offer and our entire family including our children ages 11 to 20, said our tour with Mr. Glenn was a top favorite. We tried carriage tours, steamboat tours, swamp boat tours, Gondola rides and segway tours and this private tour was the best, hands down. Glen interacts well with the entire family, has fun stories, thinks of unique ways to bring history to life and is such a pleasant and wonderful human being, he is truly a delight to be around. We highly recommend this tour, for all that you get, it's a bargain and I know you won't be disappointed!
Wow, just wow! I think my head exploded. Seriously, your family is amazing, and I truly enjoyed showing everyone our amazing city and having fun along the way. You sir are an amazing writer too! Thank you again for sharing your family with me for a day.
