Harlem Sunday Gospel Experience

Description
It is an iconic scene often captured in film and photographs – beautifully dressed women with impressive hats in Harlem heading to church for Sunday worship. But, it’s more than fashion or a show, Harlem congregants consider church worship and church family an integral part of life and a source of weekly spiritual sustenance. Sunday Gospel in Harlem invites you to be a part of this custom by respectfully joining a local church family for an hour of worship including gospel. Please note the entire church service is 90 minutes or more in duration. The tour group stays for a hour, departing before the sermon begins. If you wish to stay on your own for the entire service, please notify the tour guide when checking in. If you choose to stay for the entire service you will be on your own and will miss the walking tour. If this tour is completely booked, please consider the Wednesday Gospel Praise Music option.

We did not get on the tour because we were given the old meeting point which was on the trip advisor site. I contacted the tour operator and she gave us instructions to meet the tour. We would have been 40 minutes late. We were catching a cab to get there and my husband hurt himself so we did not get on the tour at all. Am pursuing a refund.
We arrived at the meeting point five minutes after the appointed time and there was no one. We called the telephone number listed in the details of the visit and they replied that this was not the meeting point. Bad timing and poor service provided
It’s quite simple this one did not take place because the person never came instead of meeting to take us to the church concerned. As we did not have the address of the place of Mass .... We had to turn back! In the end no gospel mass, a morning lost and especially unreimbursed expenses! A complaint has been made but no favorable feedback yet! A fortiori I do not recommend this reservation
It was a good tour and we really enjoyed thanks to an excellent guide who explains Harlem's history and takes you around after the tour, but two things to note: 1) the church does not look like the one on the picture that the tour is promoted with. It is actually a functional church premise inside a modern building 2) you get seated to far back that you only partly see the people delivering the service and signing live, and you need to watch them on screen
The guide was very kind and very prepared. She spoke very clearly, so understandable even to people who speak little English. The staff welcomed us very enthusiastically and the people were really nice. However, the arrangement of the pews made the celebrants and choir not clearly visible. For this, the staff set up a screen. In any case, I would have preferred to see the people "live", better
Gospel was a part of the service. The singers were very good in engaging the assembly specifically one of the lady.
REFUND! you made fun of the world! We were supposed to see the community of CANAAN in uniform, instead we had the community of St Luke NOTHING TO SEE and NO FILMING! if a commercial gesture is not made I will broadcast on Facebook! I am an administrator of 10 groups in France and Portugal and followed by more than 30,000 people I will no longer use your services and will let you know on Facebook
Everything about this tour was memorable. The gospel service was amazing and we were made to feel so welcome. We loved the singing and interacting with the congregation. Doris, our tour guide, is such a beautiful lady and so informative. We finished off our tour with a delicious lunch of soul food. Highly recommend this tour.
It was such a memorable experience and Doris, our tour guide, was fantastic. She’s such a special lady.
Very disappointed in the tour, we were Asked to go sit upstairs at the back not to disturb the service when leaving, to do the walk. Felt disconnected from the service watching it on screens, we could have bought a video. they comprised the hole experience, because we need to leave quietly. The walk around Harlem should not be part of the tour. They need to let people connect with the music and service not put them upstairs to watch the service on screens one on each side. Very disappointed think twice before booking this tour.
