What with a mixup in registration and being held hostage at a tequila tasting, this was a subpar experience from start to finish. The water was murky and the reef in very sad shape, although you can’t change the weather and the currents nor the impact man has done to the reef. The guide seemed to think getting through the water trail quickly was more important than going slowly and letting the customers actually look around and enjoy what the (dying) reef had to offer. Our group included three new snorklers, two of which are likely to be one and done. Not the memories we hoped to generate. This tour was advertised as 6 hours. Even with the unadvertised and unwanted tequila presentation, it barely lasted 4. The lunch consisted of three tolerable tacos each. Extra cost for beverages; even non alcoholic drinks. All in all, again sadly subpar.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We regret the confusion during the check-in process and understand how this can affect the overall experience. We also appreciate your comments regarding the snorkeling pace, as our goal is always to ensure that all guests—especially beginners—feel comfortable and able to fully enjoy the activity. Your feedback will be shared with our team to improve the experience for future travelers. Regarding the reef conditions, as you mentioned, factors such as weather, currents, and environmental conditions can impact visibility and marine life, and unfortunately these are beyond our control. However, we always aim to provide the best possible experience within those conditions. We would also like to clarify that the total duration of the tour may vary depending on logistics, weather, and group timing. The tequila presentation is typically part of the local cultural experience, though we understand it may not be of interest to all guests. We are sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations and truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving our service. Kind regards, Customer Experience Team
This trip was very well organized. Our instructors, Cariana and Maui, were upbeat and informative. We enjoyed the snorkeling and were able to see a lot of ocean life. It was followed up with tequila tasting and delicious tacos. What a fun activity! I highly recommend.
We had a great day. Francisco was our guide and he was terrific. Friendly to everyone on the tour. Everyone should be like him. Would highly recommend. The lunch at the end was really good.
It was good, but we didn't get a whole lot of time to look around Puerto Morelos. I would have happily ditched the tacos or tequila tasting (which is really a bit of a sales pitch), to have time to look round.
The snorkeling was great, we had a great guide. The tacos afterwards were good as well. We got a small tequila tasting right after the snorkeling, which was a sales pitch but there was no big pressure to buy. Overall it was a good experience.
This tour was a disaster for us. Not the tour itself because we never actually went on the tour. We had email confirmations from Viator and the local tour operator and we even had our electronic tickets for this snorkeling adventure in Puerto Morales. But the local tour operator booked us on a completely different tour (to Tulum ruins and cenotes) which we were not interested in. They admitted to their mistake and refunded our money. But we were deeply disappointed. We've booked many times with Viator for many different countries and never had a problem. But this was a HUGE problem. 7 of us were very upset, especially the 10 and 12 year old kids.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and disappointment you encountered regarding your tour booking. It’s clear that this situation caused significant frustration, especially since it involved your family, including the children. To clarify, it seems that while your booking and tickets were confirmed for the snorkeling adventure in Puerto Morales, the local tour operator mistakenly booked you on a completely different tour—one to the Tulum ruins and cenotes, which you were not interested in. We value your continued trust and appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve.
First need to note that you can't wear sunscreen and they make you wash anything off that you might already be wearing. Since my girls burn easily we ended up spending $75 USD on trash guard shirts. Which is good because they did have their legs and bum burned and that was less out of the water. The snorkeling was a lot of fun for my husband and I. If you're not used to swimming then it can be very tiring. Our daughters didn't care for it at all since they were constantly moving for the entire hour in the water. The tacos were good but since I'm gluten free there wasn't anything I could have. My family did enjoy them though. The tequila tasting was fun and there was no pressure to buy. We checked out the town but the guides did warn us not to buy from most of the vendors. We bought stuff from the grocery store and one the suggested vendors. We also had ice cream at Aldo's which was divine and gluten free for me. I think the 2.5hr of shopping was a little bit long and we were exhausted by the time our ride got there. We enjoyed it and if the details is timing were more clear then maybe we would have been better prepared.
Pick up from moon palace was 8am, Travelled to Puerto Maleres, snorkelling for just over an hour, tequila tasting, tacos for lunch and then hour to visit shops. Back at hotel for 3pm. Good trip.

Amazing trip with amazing guides! This was the highlight of our trip to the area. After the briefing about snorkeling and caring for the reef we went out on a quick 5 min boat ride to the reef. We snorkeled for about an hour and saw endless tropical fish and coral along with a sea turtle, eagle ray, yellow stingray, barracuda, moray eel, and so much more! Obviously we got lucky and I’m not sure everyone will see that much. The guides were fun and knowledgeable. After snorkeling we put in our orders for tacos then went back to the main location where we started across the street from the beach where the boat is located. Then they did an education and tasting of tequila. We don’t drink, so this wasn’t entertaining or interesting to us at all, but the others in the group seemed to like it. Then we got tacos that were just ok, but still fun to sit on a balcony overlooking the ocean to eat. While eating, the photographer (Mario - our favorite) came to show us the pictures from snorkeling on his iPad. The pictures were amazing and we spent the $1050 pesos for him to send them to our phones. Pro tip, after tacos we had almost two hours of wait time until our van came. We rented a moped from the shop Nextdoor for $25 and explored this amazing town.

It's great to hear that you were able to see a variety of marine life while snorkeling and that the guides were fun and knowledgeable. We're sorry that the tequila tasting part wasn't of interest to you, but it's great that you enjoyed the views while eating tacos. It's also a great suggestion to rent a scooter to explore the city while waiting! We appreciate your kind words and look forward to serving you again in the future. Best regards!
