Your Egyptologist meets you at your hotel in the morning. Private air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Plateau, about 30 minutes from central Cairo. You stand at the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, walk its perimeter, and hear the actual history. Time at the panoramic view point where all three Pyramids align for the iconic photo.
Your final stop combines the Great Sphinx of Giza with your included 15 to 20 minute camel ride along the desert ridge. Your Egyptologist explains the Sphinx's disputed age and what it actually represents, then a licensed handler takes you on the camel route along the ridge with the Pyramids framed behind you for photos. No surprise fees, no haggling.

We were promptly picked up at the hotel by our friendly driver, accompanied by expert tour guide Mina, who is very knowledgeable, passionate, and articulate. I'm so happy that I chose this tour for my layover in Cairo. I don't know if I can put it all into words. This tour was AMAZING! First of all, on the way to the Giza pyramids we got to learn about the history from our guide, Ayoub. He was very catering and stopped to get refreshments and anything else we needed for the trip. At the pyramids, Ayoub took pics for us and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. The camel rides was my favorite part!! The handlers were so funny. And just when I thought the tour couldn't get any better, we went out to lunch at this beautiful restaurant. It was breath taking and the food was sooooo good and authentic! Our driver, Hany, got us back to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight. This tour was a life-changing experience for me and I'll definitely visit again!
The guide was average at best in terms of discussing the history of the pyramids. He seemed more interested in shuttling us to places to take photos. The real reason I give this one star is that we had a camel ride included in the tour and then we paid $15 USD per person extra for them to take us to the point we could get a photo with all 9 pyramids. It took about 30 minutes for the roundtrip. I learned after that the Egypt government has a fixed price of $3USD for a 30 minute camel ride. The reason I hire a guide is to help me navigate these things and prevent me from falling into the tourist traps and prices. It's not about the money as $15 is not a big deal in the scheme of things and I don't mind over paying a bit to support poor countries. It's the principal of feeling like hiring a guide was hiring one more layer of people in Cairo just trying to take advantage of tourists. I live in Brazil and have been to places like India. For me to get frustrated takes some effort. I feel I would have been better off hiring a driver and rolling our own. It's very easy to navigate the pyramids.
