Construction began on July 22, 1878, on the site of the old main plaza, where a market had once stood. Documents show that there was a pillory in the center of the plaza where offenders were punished (as was customary in European cities). Originally, it was a market—in fact, "Parián" means market in Filipino—but when the first canteens were opened in 1905, the building soon changed its purpose.

No show

I booked a night tour the same day and never received a confirmation message or email. I messaged the company a couple of times but no response. Viator couldn’t reach the tour operator either. Not very professional

Tlaquepaque night tour

Tonny was a fabulous guide. Not only did I get to see the busy night scene in Tlaquepaque, we drove by many points of interest in Guadalajara. Tonny was extremely informative and knowledgeable about the city. He was very helpful, accommodating, and courteous.
