Do yourself a favor and book with Diego for this or any other private tour he leads!

Diego’s knowledge, presentation and personality made for a very interesting, fun and learned experience. We highly recommend his tours and will be re-connecting for future tours in / around Guadalajara ourselves.

Unforgettable trip

Diego arrived to our hotel perfectly on time. The driver Gustavo drove safely and carefully, while Diego advised us of the history and details of the places we visited. The distillery and the agave fields were great to see, and learning the culture of the region was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Operator response

Thank you John! Safe travels.

Educational and fun experience

If you are looking for an authentic, local's view of these 2 amazing places, look no further than Diego's tour. My wife and I started our day at 7:30 and would highly recommend that you do the same as we were able to beat the crowd at the Guachimontones and get a head start in Tequila, even on a Saturday. There were still people coming in as we were heading back to Guadalajara. We are always impressed as we explore new areas in Mexico and having Diego as our personal tour guide for the day was the perfect way to experience these amazing landmarks. Diego is very knowledgeable on the area and it is easy to see that he has a passion for history as well as folklore. The information he's equipped with is a perfect amount without feeling overloaded. He recommenced many good places to eat, drink, and shop, but ultimately left the decision up to us. There is lots to do in Tequila, so don't be shy if you have an idea of something specific you'd like to see. We were on the fence about trying to travel on our own to these sites and we would have been without 90% of the interesting information and history without Diego. Not to mention we would have not gotten the delicious local food. "When you see the abuelas in their aprons, that's how you know good food is coming," he said. If you are on the fence, you will not regret your day with Diego.

A Great Day with Diego

We really enjoyed our tour of both the Town of Tequilla and the Guachimontone Pyramids with Diego. He was extremely well versed on the history of both areas as well as where to eat along the way. The tour of the tequila factory was wonderful and his connections with the owners of the distillery made it an extra special experience.

Operator response

Muchas gracias amigo! Best wishes and I hope to see you both again soon.

Thank you, Diego!

We had an incredible day with Diego! He was professional, SO knowledgeable, personable, friendly and overall, just a wonderful person to spend the day with. We learned so much from him and got to see things we would have otherwise missed. He also gave fantastic recommendations for places to eat and drink. We would definitely book with him again!

Gracias Chika!

Our favorite tour by far!

This was our favorite tour! We took a total of four tours in Mexico - 2 in Jalisco and 2 in Yucatan, and this was by far the best. Diego was timely and great with communicating ahead of the trip. I appreciated that he had a driver so it felt very safe to talk and ask questions during the drive (whereas in other trips, the tour guide was also the driver). I liked that Diego provided enough information and background on the history of Guachimontones and Tequila, without hovering. He let us explore on our own but was always nearby for questions. We got to pick where we had lunch in Tequila, I didn't realize how much this mattered until we took a tour to Chapala where the guide dropped us off at a restaurant that was expensive, slow, and not worth the wait. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. It could not have been better! Thanks Diego for a great experience.

See the pyramids in the morning, then learn about agave's gift to Mexico.

This full day trip was full of new experiences, underscored by the informed commentary of our wonderful guide. Our driver was excellent, and the day felt like a true luxury, just us exploring the pyramids and not just Tequila but the surrounding area. I felt like Diego listened to our interests and questions and planned the day around us, instead of fitting us to a reahearsed speech. I have had two tours with him and recommend him very highly. Well worth the money.

Book it. Book it now.

This tour was incredible! Diego has vast knowledge of the history of the area and tequila making process, making for a special blend of culture, history, and food. Diego times the tour so you can see the ruins before people arrive. Then we had the *best* carnitas tacos (seriously, I’ve had a lot) before heading to a tequila distillery for a tasting. He gave us a tour which was unlike other winery/distillery tours I’ve been on - we could get up close and really see how it’s done. Finally, we headed to Tequila for some walking cocktails and an authentic lunch in a market. I’ve been on a few similar tours in other countries and have a pretty high set of expectations; Diego exceeded them all. It was like touring around with a friend who knows everything but weaves cool facts into natural conversation. The only thing I regret is not booking more of Diego’s excursions. Next time I’m in GDL, you best believe I’ll be booking another tour with Diego!!
