One of the highlights of a visit here is climbing the 272 steps leading up to the temple. Located in a limestone outcrop, Batu Caves is a unique and fascinating cave temple. Batu Caves consists of three big caves, with the main cave housing ornate Hindu shrines. This destination draws a huge international crowd during Thaipusam, an annual festival which pays homage to Lord Muruga. A recent addition here is the 140-feet statue of Lord Muruga, which is visible from miles away.

Lata Iskandar is a waterfall along the trunk road from Tapah to Cameron Highlands, located about 25-km before Ringlet. The waterfall cascades over several tiers of granite slopes, with the last drop at 25 meters high flowing into a small pool below, before resuming its journey as a narrow stream. On weekends, the waterfall is overrun by tourists and local visitors. They congregate tightly under the cold shower of the falls, or perch themselves for photos along its rocky ledges. Ramshackle shops and stalls, nestled along the main road facing Lata Iskandar, provide shopping opportunities for ethnic souvenirs, tribal handicrafts, strange herbs, tropical fruits and even aphrodisiacs.

BOH Plantations was founded in 1929 by J.A. Russel, a British businessman during the British colonial era in Malaya. He was optimistic of the tea plantation business due to huge demands despite of the world-wide Great Depression at that time. As a result of the potential, he applied for and was granted a concession of land for his first tea garden in Habu, Cameron Highlands. BOH Tea Plantation is a must-visit place when you are in Cameron Highlands Scenic, tranquil & cool fresh air! The road journey to the BOH Tea Plantation is quite an adventure itself. Boh Tea Plantation has a total of 8000 acres planted with tea. The largest tea plantation in Southeast Asia. Road is narrow and winding. Do give a honk or two while negotiating a corner to let oncoming traffic know there is a car coming. Gets kind of fun to honk the horn after a while. The Sg Palas 'ummph!' BOH TEA Plantation offers a FREE guided factory tour of how the tea leaf is processed. Don't forget to visit a very nice BOH TEA SHOP nearby & pamper yourself with a nice cup of tea, cakes & enjoy the enchanting ambience & view of the BOH TEA Plantation.

Scam

The company took full payment then cancelled on the day saying the traffic was too busy. They agreed to a refund but have not refunded my money or responded after the request. Total scam. Avoid

A Nice Drive to Cameron

From the moment we were picked up until the end of the tour, we had an absolutely fantastic time! Our driver, Karthik was exceptional—extremely careful and attentive throughout the journey, which made us feel safe and comfortable. Not only was he a skilled driver, but he was also very friendly and engaging, adding a personal touch to our experience. The sights we visited were breathtaking, and every moment was filled with excitement. The organization of the tour was top-notch, ensuring that we made the most of our day. We truly appreciated how Karthik shared interesting stories and insights along the way, making the trip even more enjoyable. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this tour if you are short on time and want to see the tea plantations/ countryside.

There's no tourguide,...

There's no tourguide, just a driver that leaves you at each place. The driver also didn't know the stops we had booked, luckily he was nice and accepted to make the stops we preferred.

Operator response

Please check your itinerary guide exclude driver include.

Very disappointed 13 hour day

Hi this experience was terrible ,13 hours we were in a small car , no leg space, and minimal air con, it took 7 hours before we got to cameron highlands . Our tour guide only spoke when we pulled up to get out of car. Because we ran late , we missed out on cactus farm and temple / mosque as they were closed. We also didn't stop for dinner and driver was sometimes exceeding limit on freewsy by 30km . I would not recommend this day trip to anyone, very disappointed

Operator response

On that day in Malaysia school holidays, the roads are heavy traffic.

Not a tour, just a driver

This is the second time out of two tries with Viator that I felt the product was misrepresented. I was looking for a tour with a guide. I got a driver who barely said a word to me during an 11-hour excursion. He had few facts to offer and asking questions provided dubious results. TIP: make sure the “tour” you sign up for is really a tour and not just transportation.

Operator response

This tour included driver only as per the inclusion and exclusions

Cameron is good to see, but not a must.

Overall a nice experience, but I can say the tour is very expensive for what it offers. Stopping in the Batu Caves saved us some time from the next days. The Cameron Highlands are good to see, especially for tea lovers but I expected more iconic landscapes. The tea we tried was great, but finally not a must see place! The Buddhist temple and the night market were great and so full of culture, something difficult to find in big cities (especially in Kuala Lumpur). Though, the rest of the stops are nothing special, just a waste of time and money in the markets there. The timing is strict, so we had really limited time in the temple and the market which were the best out of the trip. The road is full of curves, and especially if it is raining this will be a bad experience for people suffering from nausea.

A long but rewarding day trip

A fascinating, if long, day visiting the Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur, involving some temples, some shopping, and the highlight - a visit to a tea estate.
