Itinerary
Begin with an early morning pickup at your Singapore hotel. Our trained driver will meet you at the hotel driveway to check your documents before escorting you through immigration via the Malaysia drive-through border (no standing-in-line). After clearing immigration, your English-speaking guide will settle you into the comfortable seats of your private, air-conditioned minivan to enjoy the 4-hour chauffeured drive to Malaysia's capital - Kuala Lumpur.
Along the way to Kuala Lumpur, your driver will make 2 stopovers. The 1st stopover will be at a Starbucks/Costa Coffee near Malacca, where western-style toilets are available (toilet paper available upon request). The 2nd stopover will be at a 5-star Marriott/Hilton Hotel, where guests can enjoy a premium western breakfast (or traditional Malay food upon request). IMPORTANT: Guests who booked the "Malacca side trip" option will be provided an extra UNESCO Melaka highlights tour (Dutch Square, A Famosa Fort, St. Paul's Hill & Church, Middelburg Bastion, UNESCO Wall Art, St. Francis Xavier Church, Jonker Street, 15-minute Trishaw Ride), before proceeding to Kuala Lumpur.
Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, one of the first stops will be Batu Caves. The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Batu Caves was founded by K. Thamboosamy Pillai, an Indian trader in 1891, as a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. A 42.7-metre high gold-painted statue of Lord Murugan was unveiled in January 2006, having taken 3 years to construct. It is the tallest Lord Murugan statue in the world. IMPORTANT: The order of sightseeing stops may be rearranged depending on actual Kuala Lumpur city traffic, crowd management, and weather conditions to optimize time usage.
Located near Batu Caves is the Sri Durgai Amman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga, often regarded as the most powerful female Hindu deity - often depicted with 8 or 10 hands. As a symbol of the triumph of good over evil, Goddess Durga is portrayed in mythology as a warrior who vanquishes the demonic powers that threaten the social order, economic well-being, and dharma. In this temple, Goddess Durga is represented as a stunning woman riding a lion, her numerous hands armed with weapons to vanquish evil spirits. In essence, Goddess Durga's multiplicity of arms embodies her role as an all-powerful and fiercely protective goddess.
30 minutes drive from Batu Caves is the famous National Monument, locally known as Tugu Negara. It is a historic bronze sculpture that pays tribute to those who died in combat during Malaysia’s battle for freedom against the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Malayan Emergency from 1948 till 1960. It serves as a remembrance of the bravery, courage and unity of the fighters who laid down their lives for Malaysia’s independence. The statue has earned its place in the book of records as the tallest freestanding group of bronze sculptures at 15-meter high.
10 minutes drive from the National Monument is the Central Market. The market was originally founded in 1888, refurbished into its current Art Deco style in 1937.
Located near the Central Market is Thean Hou Temple, which was completed in 1987. It is a six-tiered temple of the Goddess of the Sea (Mazu). You can also find the Goddess of Mercy (Guanyin) and Protector of the Sea (Shui Wei Niang Niang) here.
Next stop is the iconic the Putra Mosque. Famed for its pink-granite domes, the mosque was completed in 1999 and named after the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tungku Abdul Rahman Putra. Note: Guests who wish to enter the mosque may do so with mosque-issued modesty robes, provided it is not closed to the public (ie: outside Friday prayer times). Otherwise, guests may be respectfully requested to only take photos from the outside.
Located near Putra Mosque is the Malaysia Prime Minister's Office. It is located on a 50-metre high hill overlooking the city. The building is finished in natural stone with a green dome.
Located near Putra Mosque is the Palace of Justice, which houses the Federal Courts and Courts of Appeal. Relocated from Sultan Abdul Samad Building in 2003, the Palace Of Justice is also built with classical Islamic architecture.
40 minutes drive from Putra Mosque is the Istana Negara (National Palace). It is the official residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the monarch of Malaysia. The palace complex has an area of 97.65 hectares, 22 domes, and is split into three main portions: the Formal Component, Royal Component and Administration Component.
10 minutes drive from the National Palace is the Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square). This is the historical place where the Union flag was lowered and the national flag was raised for the very first time at the struck of midnight of 31st August 1957.
From the Independence Square, you will have a vantage view of the Sultan Abdul Samad building, which is among Kuala Lumpur’s earliest Moorish-style buildings. It was built in 1897 and was named after the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time. The distinguished landmark originally served as the offices for the colonial British administration and the superior courts of Malaysia.
From the Independence Square, you will have a vantage view of the Royal Selangor Club. The club was founded in 1884 and originally served as a meeting place for high ranked and educated members of the British colonial society. Selangor is the name of the state in which the capital - Kuala Lumpur is located.
10 minutes drive from the Independence Square is South East Asia's highest revolving restaurant. Enjoy a sky dining buffet featuring traditional local Malay food and desserts with 360° views (4pm table reservation).
From the revolving restaurant, you will have a vantage view of the Merdeka 118 (Independence Tower). Topped with a massive 160-meter spire, the tower is still under construction. When completed in end 2026, it will be the world's second-tallest structure, surpassing the Tokyo Skytree at 634 meters.
Next stop is the KL (Television) Tower. Observation deck tickets are INCLUDED for you to admire the stunning skyline of Kuala Lumpur, at a height of over 900 feet.
Next stop is the base of Petronas Twin Towers, where you can take photos of the famous Petronas Mercedes-AMG F1 car replica at the gift shop. IMPORTANT: Guests who wish to upgrade their KL Tower observation deck tickets to Petronas Twin Towers skybridge, please upgrade* using the link on the booking confirmation voucher (recommended: at least 5 days before departure).
Finally, your guide will bring you to KLCC Park, where you can take iconic ground photos of the world-famous Petronas Twin Towers. IMPORTANT: Guests who wish to see the night view of the Petronas Twin Towers, please expect to leave Kuala Lumpur after sunset at 7:45pm and arrive in Singapore at 11:45pm onwards (subject to actual traffic conditions).
After completing all the sightseeing stops listed on the itinerary, you will head back south towards Singapore. You will again be escorted by our driver through immigration via the Malaysia drive-through border (no standing-in-line). Depending on traffic conditions and the actual departure time from Kuala Lumpur, you will arrive at Singapore 4-5 hours later where you will be provided with a free Singapore hotel dropoff.

This was a great way to see the highlights of Malaysia from Singapore in a day and learn about the country’s history and culture. The tour guide Iman was fantastic and our kids, ages 13 & 16, had a great time and learned a lot about Malaysia. The Batu Caves were our favorite part, but everything was so unique and worth seeing. So glad we did it!
Shan (tour guide) and Vicky (driver) were excellent! They knew how to maneuver the traffic and maximize time to ensure we saw all the attractions that were scheduled and we had enough time to shop, eat, and take pictures. This is a great tour to take from Singapore if you have only limited time. The van seats were luxurious, the on board WiFi was great too! Definitely enjoyed seeing the countryside. Great tour of Melaka and Kuala Lumpur.
I had qualms about being a solo female traveler; however, Iman, the tour guide & miss Vicky, the female driver made me feel safe. Iman was a knowledgeable guide & an excellent photographer. Vicky was an excellent driver who fearlessly navigated the traffic in Malaysia. The tour operator & miss Vicky provided an excellent service when I left a couple of items in the van. They’ve encountered hiccups trying to deliver my items back to me at the hotel. I finally received my missing items back & I’m very grateful to them for their patience. I would definitely recommend them & this tour operator to my friends & family.
This was an epic morning/day/night trip full of history, modern marvels, cultural sites, and great conversation along the way. Iman was a thoughtful and informative guide, and went out of his way to make each stop interesting. He took a LOT of pictures too. our driver Vicky was also a total trooper, moving us swiftly and safely to each location. The comfy van with aircon made each stop even better, as we could cool down along the way. As for sites, the Melaka side-trip was incredibly worth it as an example of Asian culture influenced by Dutch, Portuguese, and British imperialism. It was a perfect balance of old-world charm and modern tourism. Putrajaya was not on my radar prior to the tour, and it's truly a city of the future. Clean, perfectly laid out, and ready for the ongoing expansion of KL. Batu Caves is a must-do even if you are not religious - the statue and caves were wondrous. Mounting 272 stairs in the heat, while dodging ravenous monkeys, felt like a victory! KL itself was a bustling city, and the Petronas Towers do not disappoint. They are technically "old" now, but still have a futuristic feel, and the stories of how they were built are impressive. This tour is highly recommended as a way to see multiple aspects of Malaysia in a single day.
Shawn and Chris were fantastic! Batu Caves where our faves! Would definitely recommend this excursion.
We have undertaken this tour as a family, so 2 adults and 1 child (12 year old daughter). We arrived on time at our hotel in a very comfortable and spacious van. There were no other guests (theoretically, there could have been a child and an adult in the van). So the tour is basically geared towards minigroups. This means: You have 1:1 supervision. We had a very safe driver and an extremely friendly tour guide. Actually, it was like traveling with friends. We felt very comfortable and well looked after in the company of the two. Entry formalities are completely organized by the company. You leave Singapore at the border and then enter Malaysia. So you have to take your passport with you. One day before, a photo of the passports is sent to the organizer. You will receive a request for this beforehand. The formalities are then carried out entirely by the organiser. You don't have to worry about anything at the border either, except that you have to show your face to border guards so they can match it with your passport. You stay in the car. So it's very straightforward. The journey to Kuala Lumpur then takes about 3 hours. All personal needs are taken into account (e.g. if you need to go to the toilet, drink again etc.). Here the guest is truly king. On the way, a breakfast break is taken in a hotel, where you can then, like any hotel guest, have breakfast from the buffet, which is also very rich. The quality is very good and there is something for every palate. The cost is already included in the tour price. I don't want to overestimate the sights. But I can say that we all saw must-sees in Kuala Lumpur. Last stop (around 3pm) is the KL Tower. Up in the tower is a viewing roundel. You have a great view over the whole city. There is also a restaurant where you can have your lunch. It is a very rich buffet of very high quality. Be sure to bring hunger! Again, the costs are already included in the tour price. The return journey begins at around 4.30 p.m. In the evening there is a lot of activity at the border. You have to be patient. But you're in the air-conditioned van. One leaves Malaysia again and re-enters Singapore. We were then back at the hotel around 10pm. I have done many tours with Viator in other countries of the world and have always been very satisfied. But this tour was my absolute highlight. Here really nothing was left to chance and the kindness and personal all-round care are second to none.
Shan was our Guide and Vicky was our Driver. BOTH Vicky- an Amazing and Safe Driver! #1 Best in the Country! She also had a Beautiful and clean comfortable vehicle. And, Shan was an Amazing and knowledgeable Guide. With many cultural notes and references to make the Tour Amazing!!! It was an absolutely wonderful experience that I would’ve missed if we hadn’t committed to doing it. I/we were all very pleased with how the entire tour went. Just so memorable and such Amazing pair of guides. Thank you so much Shan & Vicky! For all you did for us!!
Awesome experience. I was a single woman traveling alone that wouldn’t have normally gone to Malaysia for a day. This tour was awesome. Learned loads. Highly recommend.
Great excursion! Saw a lots of interesting attractions and the guide (Iaman) and driver (Chris) were wonderful. Iaman shared a lot of information about history and sights we visited. TQhe ride to Kuala Lumpur was okay as we had several stops along the way. The ride back was extremely long (4.5 hours) as it was a straight shot back to Singapore. The boarder crossing was always busy.
A long day but very interesting. Definitely worth it if you have time. The guide was very helpful and informative.
