Itinerary

10 min

We are starting the tour at the world's biggest bus terminal. Here we will be giving you a glimpse into the old, gritty, and crime ridden area that use to be on 42. street.

15 min

Down 42. street and into the Theater District, we will pass by some of the famous broadway theaters such as the New Amsterdam Theater and New Victory Theater. On 42. street we will talk about the transformation from the used-to-be dangerous part of town in the 70's and 80's and into the 90's "clean-up" of the City.

15 min

When we visit Bryant Park, you will experience the holiday atmosphere as the park is transformed to a holiday market with tons of little booths selling artisan products and delicacies. You will have the opportunity to grab a drink or snack before venturing off (not included in ticket price). During this time there's a skating rink, and this is where the Fashion show used to be held. We will also talk about how the park was developed and the part it played in the days of high crime and economic problems.

15 min

You will enter Grand Central Terminal and your guide will tell you about the construction of the terminal, from the early days of the 20th century through the potential demolition of the terminal in the 60s, and how they managed to bring it back to its marvelous condition of today. You will also have an opportunity to hear som of the "lesser-known" facts and "well-known" secrets of the Terminal.

15 min

Iconic cultural institution situated at the eastern edge of Bryant Park, is a bastion of knowledge and architectural grandeur. Its Beaux-Arts facade, guarded by the iconic stone lions, Patience and Fortitude, welcomes visitors into a vast expanse of meticulously curated collections. Depending on hours we will enter the main lobby.

10 min

Throughout our walk in Times Square your guide will tell you the story of how the world-famous streets of Times Square developed from Longacre Square by ways of the subway development. Your guide will share information about the entertainment that be found here as well as details of the historic buildings and statues in the area.

15 min

The guide cancelled the tour unexpectedly

The guide cancelled the tour few hours before the start not leaving alternatives. I could not take the tour and i do not recommend this company

Operator response

Unfortunately there are times a tour guide must cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances. I could not secure another guide at 5am in the morning but wanted to make sure our guests knew with 5 hours in advance so they could make other plans. You wrote you extended your stay in NYC another day to join the tour - so sadly I wouldn’t be able to offer you alternatives. You asked me to refund you the money but when you book via Viator companies do not get payment until days after a tour has ended. Now, you leave a 1-star review saying you don’t recommend my company. I’m very sorry because you just gave my small business its first 1-star review since I started 12 years ago. I’m disappointed that you found it necessary to leave it since you did not experience our tour and a one star review hurts.

The best money we paid!

Maria, the Danish speaking guide, was "the best". We have been in NY before, but getting the story behind the different sights were really interesting. Furthermore Maria knows the American society and how it is to be living in a country much differrent from ours - she answered all of our questions and more. We would indeed highly recommend Maria. Best regards Mette & Henrik

Guided tour in Danish

Maria Leena is definitely our recommendation from here for conveying her clearly vast knowledge of NY to both young and old in a good, easy-to-understand and fun way
