The selection of eateries is excellent. The guide, Owen, had great knowledge of the area and its history.
Thank you so much for the 5-star review! I'm thrilled you enjoyed both the eateries and the stories behind the neighborhood — that mix is what makes Flushing come alive. Hope to welcome you back on another tour someday!
This was our first visit to Flushing Chinatown. It would have been overwhelming without a guide to give us some history and explain the culinary experiences we were about to have. Owen was a knowledgeable and generous guide who organized our time very well so the food stops we made flowed easily. His love of Flushing and Chinese culinary history made this a very fun experience!
Thank you so much, Sandra! Flushing has so many layers — culinary, historical, cultural — and it means a lot to hear that the stories and the food landed well for you. Sharing this neighborhood with curious first-time visitors is one of my favorite things to do, so your kind words really mean the world. Can't wait to welcome you back for the next round of flavors!
This was a wonderful tour. Owen was great and we learned so much about the Flushing area and history.
Thank you so much, Cody! It was truly a joy guiding you through Flushing and sharing the stories behind one of NYC's most authentic Chinese neighborhoods. Hearing that you came away with a deeper appreciation for the area and its history is exactly what we hope for on every tour. We can't wait to welcome you back for more flavors next time you're in town!
Take the time to hop onto the subway to see the Flushing Chinatown! It was very easy from my hotel in Manhattan and Owen was a great guide who took me to stops that I would have never found on my own. His knowledge of history made the tour informative, and the snacks were very tasty!
Thank you so much, Jennifer! So glad the subway ride from Manhattan felt easy — Flushing really is closer than most visitors realize, and worth every stop. Those hidden snack spots are exactly what I love showing guests, and hearing that the history layer made it richer means a lot. Hope to welcome you back for another Flushing adventure soon!
BEST tour! As a born and bred New Yorker it was awesome to try and learn about new food. Plus the history!
Thank you so much, Becky! Hearing that from a born-and-bred New Yorker means the world — Flushing has so many stories worth telling, and I love when locals walk away seeing it through a fresh lens. The food + history combo is exactly what I aim for. Hope to welcome you back for another neighborhood walk soon!
Awesome flavours and awesome guide. Would have passed some of these places by if we were on our own.
Thank you, Brian! That's exactly what I hope guests take away — those hidden gems are easy to walk right past unless someone points them out. So glad the flavors landed and that you trusted me to lead the way. Looking forward to welcoming you back for more Flushing finds!
I had a really great experience with Owen! Before the trip he texted me a reminder of the location and a picture of himself which was very helpful to know who to look for. The food was good and all the options were different. This was my first time trying a lot of the options. He also had a lot of knowledge of the area and history of the city.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! I always send a reminder and photo before the tour so guests feel comfortable knowing exactly who to look for — glad it helped set the tone. It's especially rewarding to hear the food selection landed well on your first time trying these dishes, and that the stories about Flushing's history added something to the experience. Hope to welcome you back whenever you're craving another round!
Flavors of Flushing was a fabulous tour!!!!! Owen was a phenomenal guide and I hope you are lucky enough to be scheduled with him. I had unbelievably good food. The tour was incredibly interesting learning about the different regions of China and the types of food each produces. Then, learning how they migrated to the US and settled in NY. I’d highly recommend this tour for both the history and the food!
Thank you so much, Kimberly, for this incredibly generous review! Connecting China's regional food traditions with the migration story that shaped Flushing is exactly the thread I love pulling on during the tour — it's wonderful that both the food and the history landed so well for you. Hope to welcome you back next time you're craving another round!
We tasted so many interesting and different foods during this two-hour tour. Owen was extremely informed about Flushing's history, both past and current. Afterwards he gave us a list of everything we ate, so if we are able to return someday, we can try our favorites again. Our only suggestions are since we are eating some items with our hands, offer disinfectant wipes at the beginning of the tour and hand cleaning wipes during the tour because things get a bit messy.
Dear Rizadoro, Thank you so much for the detailed review — your kind words about the food variety, the history stories, and the take-home list really made my day. I did want to mention one small thing, just in case it's helpful: every dish on the tour is actually served with packaging or utensils, and napkins are provided with every item — the fried pancake and Chinese hamburger come wrapped, the popcorn chicken comes in a box with bamboo skewers, and the dumplings and rice rolls are served with chopsticks and plates. So technically nothing is eaten directly by hand directly. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back to Flushing whenever you're in New York again!
