Come join us and enjoy the best surfing experience Waikiki can offer! The Group Lesson is an affordable way for participants 13 and older to try surfing for the first or 50th time. Our group lessons offer that perfect mix of individual attention in a team environment. Everyone improves and everyone has fun. Our group sizes vary, but have a ratio of 1 instructor for every 4 students. With our high-quality boards, reef shoes and rash-guard shirts, instruction and video-viewing, and best-in-class, professional surf guides, we provide the ultimate group surfing lesson.

Pickup Locations & Times
We offer courtesy pickup from Waikiki from our four standard pickup locations 10-45 minutes prior to your lesson time: (1) Ilikai Hotel (2) Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador Hotel (3) Don Ho Lane Van Depot (4) Hyatt Regency For customers staying at the Ala Moana Hotel, Hale Koa Hotel, Kahala Hotel and Resort, The Ritz Carlton or The Ka La'i Waikiki Beach, we may be able to arrange a special pickup closer to the hotel with a notification call or email at least 24 hours in advance. If either the customer or accompanying guest has a handicap or injury and needs to arrange a special pickup, please call or email us with 24 hours notice and we are more than happy to come directly to your hotel.

- Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
- All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. With at least 24 hours notice, we will do our best to accommodate Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese speaking-instructors.
- Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki.

As a solo traveler trying surfing for the very first time, my private lesson with Marco and the Ohana Surf Project was an experience I’ll never forget. Marco took care of me every step of the way. He was incredibly patient, kind, supportive, and encouraging, especially when I was one of the last people to finally stand up on the board. Not once did I feel discouraged. The entire team and even the other participants cheered me on and celebrated my success like it was their own. To top it all off, they captured the experience with amazing photos and videos that I’ll treasure forever. If you’re thinking about learning to surf in Waikiki, this is the team you want by your side!

I had a total of 4 surf lessons with different surf coaches. The surf lessons take place away from the usual Waikiki surf hustle and bustle. This means fewer people in the water, more room for surfing, a greater sense of security. The whole team is great. I had so much fun. I'll remember your shouts of "up, up, stand up" for the rest of my life, and that celebrates every single successful attempt: "you did it." THANK YOU for this great experience, by the way ... I am 61 years old :)

I went to my second surf school in Hawaii. I had a great time surfing here for the first time many years ago, so I decided to stay here the next time. Swimsuits are worn at the hotel, and shoes, lash guards and boards are included in the lesson so you can rest assured. The only things you should take with you are drinks, towels and wallets. They keep you in a box while you surf. Watch the instructional videos when you are ready in the shop. As I don't speak English very well, he gave me an iPad and I was able to see the slides in Japanese translation at the same time, so it was easy to understand. Then transfer by bus from the Marriott Hotel's ground floor shop to the beach near Kapiolani Park. The conversation with the instructor is in English, but very friendly, and the instructor will teach you to "just keep your feet together" or "don't look down" with a mixture of Japanese sometimes, so even beginners can rest assured. Best of all, it feels so good to ride the waves in a great environment with Diamond Head nearby! At the end, we went back to the shop and all the participants looked back at the photos and videos and finished. It can be purchased if you wish. I joined alone, so it was good to see my family! It's pretty good to be taught by an authentic Hawaiian surfer rather than going to a Japanese school. It was a good memory for me!
Our experience began with a video demonstration. This was very helpful as my husband and I are both visual learners. Staff was very knowledgeable and assisted us whenever needed, no questions asked. We enjoyed the rush of surfing and felt there was no better way to experience Hawaii!
Everyone was supper awesome and supportive! Over all a supper great first experience surfing!! Would definitely recommend to anyone that’s looking for a really great first time experience with surfing!

Family was visiting and wanted a surf lesson. We choose Ohana Surf Project because they are highly recommended!! I now know why. Booking was simple. Jenny had excellent customer service. We were greeted with smiles and excitement when we arrived. The team is professional, encouraging and fun. All 4 of us were able to stand up on our boards! Ages 12- 50!!! We felt safe with all the instructors- Cole and Alana were great!! The best part was the photos!!! Thank you Chelsie for the memories!!! We will cherish them forever!!! (BUY THE PHOTOS!) This lesson was so much fun, I went twice! Really clear explanations, patient instructors, and easy conditions. I had never surfed before and they made it really easy to learn quickly! Would absolutely recommend a lesson here.
